Job description
The Specialist SME Portfolio - EMKAN Finance role is responsible for supporting the design, implementation, and management of the SME credit risk framework to ensure effective identification, measurement, monitoring, and mitigation of credit risks. The role focuses on minimizing fraud and credit losses, reviewing underwriting processes, identifying gaps in policies and procedures, and ensuring lending operations are aligned with regulatory requirements. The Specialist plays a key role in portfolio monitoring, booking reviews, preparation of risk reports, updating MIS dashboards, maintaining data quality, and escalating risk concerns when necessary. This position requires strong analytical capabilities, investigation skills, and an understanding of SME lending products and risk management practices to support the company’s financial stability and strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities
- Support the design and ongoing enhancement of the SME credit risk management framework to effectively identify, measure, monitor, and mitigate credit risks.
- Review underwriting processes, credit policies, and procedures to identify gaps, inconsistencies, and weaknesses, recommending improvements to strengthen risk controls.
- Assist in minimizing fraud and credit losses by identifying high-risk exposures and developing mitigation strategies related to loan origination and portfolio monitoring.
- Ensure that lending processes comply with applicable regulatory requirements and internal policies to reduce potential credit and operational risks.
- Conduct booking reviews to verify adherence to credit approval conditions, documentation standards, and underwriting guidelines.
- Prepare and distribute regular risk reports and portfolio performance updates to internal and external stakeholders, ensuring consistency in evaluation and reporting.
- Update and maintain monthly MIS reports, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely submission.
- Document key risks and ensure proper communication to relevant stakeholders, including escalation of material risk issues through established mechanisms.
- Maintain data quality within risk management systems, ensuring accurate inputs for analysis and reporting.
- Monitor external market indicators, economic developments, and sector trends that may impact SME portfolio risk levels.
- Utilize modern technological tools and systems to enhance risk monitoring, reporting efficiency, and fraud detection capabilities.
Experience & skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Banking, or a related field.
- General knowledge of banking or financing sector products, particularly SME lending products and credit structures.
- 2–5 years of relevant experience in credit risk, portfolio management, underwriting review, or SME finance (preferred).
- Strong analytical and investigative skills with high attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- Understanding of credit risk principles, loan origination processes, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Ability to produce structured risk reports and communicate findings clearly to stakeholders.
- Awareness of escalation protocols and risk governance frameworks within financial institutions.
- Ability to monitor and interpret market and economic indicators affecting credit risk exposure.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple reporting and monitoring tasks effectively.
