Job description
The Assistant Manager, Risk & Control, is responsible for safeguarding the organization by ensuring comprehensive identification, assessment, and management of operational risks across Account Services supporting Retail Banking, Business Banking, Wholesale Banking, Priority, and Private Banking segments of ENBD and EI customers. The role drives RCSA (Risk & Control Self-Assessment), KCAA (Key Control Assessment & Assurance), and KRI (Key Risk Indicators) frameworks, ensuring control testing, issue closure, and timely escalation. It oversees the closure of audit findings, compliance actions, and operational risk issues while conducting control reviews and process assessments to prevent emerging risks. The incumbent manages operational risk reporting, maintains a risk register, supports fraud risk management, and ensures readiness for internal and external audits. Additionally, the role includes designing and implementing QA sampling guidelines, thematic reviews, and NPPA (New Product & Process Assessments), as well as driving initiatives for continuous control improvement. It involves building risk culture through training and workshops, promoting ownership of risk controls, and ensuring adherence to risk frameworks, audit requirements, and regulatory standards across units. The position requires strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, stakeholder management, and proficiency in operational risk methodologies within the BFSI context.

Key responsibilities
- Oversee audit findings, compliance actions, and operational risk issues to ensure timely closure within defined timelines
- Monitor and escalate overdue items to senior management with accurate reporting and updates
- Support business units in self-reporting issues and maintaining audit readiness for internal and external reviews
- Recommend and implement best practices to standardize control frameworks across Account Services
- Perform QA reviews and maintain oversight on sampling guidelines and quality standards
- Manage the RCSA (Risk & Control Self-Assessment) process ensuring comprehensive risk identification and control evaluation
- Conduct KCAA (Key Control Assessment & Assurance) reviews to validate control effectiveness and address identified gaps
- Define and monitor KRIs (Key Risk Indicators) with accurate monthly reporting and escalation of critical issues
- Conduct NPPA (New Product & Process Assessments) with cross-functional teams to identify potential risks and recommend controls
- Carry out periodic control reviews, RCAs on alerts, and assessments of policy/process changes
- Perform control testing and quality assurance checks to ensure adherence to operational standards
- Support documentation and updates of SOPs/PFDs with appropriate risk control measures
- Track, analyze, and report operational risk events and loss incidents with timely resolution and closure
- Conduct RCA on loss events and recommend preventive control measures
- Drive monthly risk review sessions with risk champions and senior management
- Maintain the operational risk register with updated controls and mitigation plans
- Support fraud risk management initiatives through investigation tracking, corrective actions, and awareness programs
- Promote organizational risk awareness through formal training, communication, and workshops
- Encourage business units to own and manage their risk controls proactively
- Consolidate and prepare Operational Risk Committee (ORC) packs and ensure closure of post-review actions
Experience & skills
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Operations and BFSI with specialization in Risk Management or related field
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance; MBA preferred
- Professional certifications such as ACAMS, ORM, or ICA Compliance Certification preferred
- Strong understanding of Operational Risk frameworks and controls management processes
- Proven experience in conducting RCSA, KCAA, and KRI reporting
- Hands-on experience in audit preparation, compliance management, and operational risk reporting
- Ability to perform control testing, root cause analysis (RCA), and loss event management
- Experience with risk register maintenance and audit closure tracking
- Knowledge of new product and process assessment methodologies (NPPA)
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail under pressure
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills with ability to coordinate across multiple teams
- Capability to design and implement new process frameworks and control initiatives
- Advanced presentation and reporting skills for senior management updates
