Job description
The Team Leader β Calibration & Maintenance Engineering at Julphar is responsible for overseeing all calibration and instrumentation-related activities within the engineering department in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. The role involves managing calibration of instruments and equipment, maintenance operations, and new installations while ensuring system reliability, availability, and uptime through effective preventive and corrective maintenance schedules. The position requires evaluating and approving technical designs, proposals, and submittals, as well as developing and monitoring project schedules using planning tools to meet defined timelines and milestones. The role includes supervising third-party contractors, ensuring compliance with documentation standards such as SOPs, O&M manuals, protocols, and system reports, and maintaining adherence to regulatory requirements and safety protocols. The Team Leader provides engineering recommendations and technical support for calibration and instrumentation initiatives, oversees departmental upgrades and projects including vendor selection and shutdown planning, and manages budgets including OPEX and CAPEX to ensure cost-effective execution. The position also requires proficiency in SAP and EQMS systems, familiarity with Quality Compliance systems and ISO-17025 guidelines, and knowledge of uncertainty measurement calculations. The role ensures compliance with EHS standards, promotes energy-saving initiatives and cost optimization strategies, and aligns departmental activities with organizational goals while driving continuous improvement in processes, systems, and performance outcomes.

Key responsibilities
- Oversee calibration of instruments and equipment and manage maintenance and new installations within the calibration department
- Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance schedules to ensure system reliability, availability, and uptime
- Evaluate, review, and approve technical designs, proposals, and engineering submittals
- Develop and monitor project schedules using planning tools to ensure adherence to timelines and milestones
- Manage and supervise third-party contractors to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and timely delivery
- Ensure compliance with documentation standards including SOPs, O&M manuals, protocols, and system reports
- Provide engineering recommendations and technical support for calibration and instrumentation projects and strategies
- Plan and execute departmental upgrades and projects including vendor selection, specification definition, and shutdown planning
- Monitor and manage departmental budgets including OPEX and CAPEX to ensure cost-effective operations
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, EHS policies, and regulatory requirements
- Monitor team performance against KPIs and implement performance improvement actions
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and optimize departmental processes and performance outcomes
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders to align engineering activities with organizational objectives
- Implement energy-saving initiatives and cost optimization strategies
Experience & skills
- Hold a bachelorβs degree in Engineering with specialization in Mechanical, Electrical, or Instrumentation
- Possess a minimum of 10 years of experience in engineering, preferably within the pharmaceutical industry
- Demonstrate experience in calibration and instrumentation projects including installation and regulatory compliance
- Show proficiency in managing preventive and corrective maintenance systems and schedules
- Demonstrate experience in managing OPEX and CAPEX budgets and ensuring cost control
- Possess strong knowledge of safety protocols, regulatory requirements, and EHS standards
- Demonstrate familiarity with Quality Compliance systems and ISO-17025 guidelines
- Show proficiency in SAP and EQMS platforms
- Possess certification or knowledge in uncertainty measurement calculations as an advantage
- Demonstrate strong project execution, vendor management, and contractor supervision capabilities
- Exhibit advanced documentation, reporting, and technical writing skills
- Demonstrate strong leadership and team management capabilities
