Job description
The Senior Technical Writer role is based in Riyadh within an IT and software environment, responsible for managing and delivering high-quality technical documentation across the software delivery lifecycle, with a strong focus on handover documentation post go-live. The role involves close collaboration with Delivery, Development, and Application Support teams to gather detailed functional and non-functional requirements, ensuring accurate and comprehensive documentation of systems. The position requires authoring and maintaining Software Requirements Specification (SRS) documents, as well as working with Business Requirements Documents (BRD) and technical design documentation standards. The candidate is responsible for developing standardized documentation templates, checklists, and structured handover deliverables that include architecture overviews, configurations, workflows, support scenarios, and known issues. The role includes translating technical specifications, user stories, APIs, and system configurations into clear, structured, and user-friendly documentation suitable for production support environments. The Senior Technical Writer conducts interviews with subject matter experts (SMEs) and stakeholders to capture undocumented knowledge and ensure completeness of documentation. Additionally, the role involves reviewing and aligning documentation with Quality Management Systems (QMS), IT Service Management (ITSM) frameworks, and compliance requirements such as auditability and traceability. The position supports continuous updates and periodic reviews of documentation to reflect system enhancements, releases, and changes. The role requires proficiency in tools such as Microsoft Word, Confluence, JIRA, and diagramming tools like Visio, Lucidchart, and Draw.io, as well as understanding of software architecture, APIs, and infrastructure fundamentals. The candidate is also expected to take ownership of the documentation lifecycle, mentor project teams on SRS standards, and contribute to process improvement initiatives within Agile, DevOps, and Waterfall delivery environments.
