Job description
The Planning Officer Engineering – Operational Planning operates within the Operational Planning section, which orchestrates seamless aircraft maintenance through specialized teams including Aircraft Scheduling, Line Planning, Line Support Planning, Base Operations Planning, Base Heavy Planning, and Projects. The section ensures optimal ground-time utilization by aligning maintenance schedules with work scoping and planning functions. Aircraft Scheduling coordinates maintenance windows to minimize flight disruptions, Work Scoping defines precise maintenance packages, Modification Planning manages minor upgrades to major structural improvements, and Special Projects handle unique tasks such as end-of-lease work and storage management. The role exists to supervise and administer program and management functions within Operational Planning, Aircraft LifeCycle Management and Reliability sections for all aircraft types, engines, and components. The position includes execution of technical auditing, analysis, verification, regulatory and performance reporting of key airworthiness tasks and reliability information, ensuring the fleet is maintained to required standards of quality and airworthiness as defined by the regulatory authority and Engineering Procedures Manual. Responsibilities include supervising day-to-day planning activities across Base Ops, Base Heavy, and Line Support to maintain aircraft compliance through workpack creation and control, including outsourced maintenance events. The role ensures creation and applicability of all maintenance work packages and work scope requirements from the Ultramain system, analysis of load capacity balance, manpower and material estimation, compliance with regulatory requirements, and adherence to Aircraft Regulatory & Legislation requirements associated with Airworthiness Compliance & Management. The Planning Officer must be fully conversant with Aircraft Documentation and Records including AMM, IPC, Work Packages and Maintenance schedules, possess understanding of Aircraft / Power Plant Systems and Components, demonstrate sound knowledge of MS Office and Airline / MRO M&E Data Management & Digital Documentations Systems, and preferably hold QA Authorisation Stamp Approvals for TR functions 3, 4 and 5.

Key responsibilities
- Supervise and administer program and management functions within Operational Planning, Aircraft LifeCycle Management and Reliability sections for all aircraft types, engines and components, ensuring execution of technical auditing, analysis, verification, regulatory and performance reporting of key airworthiness tasks and reliability information in accordance with the regulatory authority and Engineering Procedures Manual.
- Oversee the creation and applicability of all maintenance work packages and work scope requirements from the Ultramain system to ensure ongoing maintenance and modifications required for compliance of the fleet across Line, Base and Heavy Maintenance environments, including outsourced maintenance events.
- Analyse all work packages for load capacity balance, ensure full resourcing and accurate estimation of manpower and materials, and coordinate handover and acceptance by production and production support teams while maintaining regulatory compliance.
- Supervise day-to-day planning activities in Base Ops, Base Heavy and Line Support to ensure aircraft compliance is maintained through workpack creation, control, and alignment with maintenance schedules and operational requirements.
- Administer KPI / Error measurement processes and continual improvement initiatives, identify and eliminate inefficient methods, implement departmental improvements and system changes, and provide ongoing updates to subordinate personnel based on fleet, destination, corporate, and departmental financial and business performance developments.
- Provide daily supervision, training, and developmental opportunities to team members to facilitate knowledge dissemination, skill and process improvements, and procedural awareness, while ensuring adherence to Time and Attendance policy and addressing underperformance.
- Ensure each team member has a fully developed MyBC review with continual objective feedback to support developmental improvements aligned with Operational business needs and career enhancement opportunities.
- Act as deputy for the immediate supervisor, proactively seek improvement opportunities within departments and interface business units, and deliver beneficial changes that enhance operational planning effectiveness and airworthiness compliance.
Experience & skills
- Complete 12 years schooling or equivalent, or hold a Degree in Engineering in Aeronautical subjects, Mechanical, Avionics, or Electronic Tech Engineering with at least 2 years of experience in Engineering Planning.
- Possess more than 5 years of experience in Engineering: Planning, including experience within Maintenance Planning or other associated Technical Support Organisation, with at least 2 years coordinating or supervising a team.
- Demonstrate full conversance with Aircraft Documentation and Records including AMM, IPC, Work Packages and Maintenance schedules to ensure accurate planning, compliance, and record integrity.
- Exhibit understanding of Aircraft / Power Plant Systems and Components to support effective workpack creation, airworthiness compliance, and technical auditing activities.
- Show knowledge and experience in the application and administration of Aircraft Regulatory & Legislation requirements associated with Airworthiness Compliance & Management, ensuring fleet maintenance meets regulatory authority standards.
- Demonstrate sound knowledge of computer applications such as MS Office and familiarity with Airline / MRO M&E Data Management & Digital Documentations Systems for maintenance planning and documentation control.
- Possess experience in technical auditing, analysis, verification, and regulatory and performance reporting of key airworthiness tasks and reliability information within an aircraft maintenance environment.
- Hold QA Authorisation Stamp Approvals for TR functions 3, 4 and 5 as preferred, demonstrating capability to support compliance and regulatory oversight within maintenance planning operations.
