Job description
The Research & Strategy Manager at Qatar Airways, based in Doha, plays a central role in guiding the airlineâs inflight product development strategy. This role leads the synthesis of customer insights, competitive intelligence, and market trends to inform key decisions across cabin design, seating, inflight services, entertainment systems, connectivity, and overall customer experience. The manager oversees a team of research and analytics professionals, ensuring data-driven insights guide product roadmaps, innovation initiatives, and business cases, aligning with Qatar Airwaysâ strategic objectives and long-term growth plans.

Key responsibilities
- Lead competitive benchmarking, voice-of-customer research, and market scanning to identify trends, opportunities, and potential areas of differentiation in inflight products and services
- Translate qualitative and quantitative insights into structured strategic recommendations, opportunity frameworks, and scenario planning for product and service innovation
- Collaborate with senior leadership including SVP, VP, and Product Owners to support strategy formulation, long-term planning, and commercial justification for new product initiatives
- Develop comprehensive business cases for new cabin products, seating upgrades, IFE and connectivity enhancements, including ROI analysis, cost modeling, and strategic recommendations
- Track emerging technologies, innovations, and customer behavior in aviation, hospitality, tourism, and lifestyle sectors to inspire future product directions
- Lead qualitative and quantitative research initiatives such as passenger surveys, focus groups, and competitor analysis to capture actionable insights for product planning
- Drive process improvement within the Product Development & Design division, optimizing SOPs, KPIs, and workflow efficiency
- Provide research insights and support continuous improvement initiatives across product strategy, CX transformation programs, and operational processes
- Prepare executive-level reports, dashboards, and presentations to communicate insights, recommendations, and strategic decisions to leadership
- Perform other department-related duties as directed by Line Manager or Head of Department, contributing to Qatar Airwaysâ vision of innovative inflight experiences
Experience & skills
- Bachelorâs or Masterâs degree in Business, Strategy, Aviation Management, or a related discipline
- Minimum of 7 yearsâ experience in strategy, product research, insights, or management consulting, preferably in aviation, travel, hospitality, or related sectors
- Certification in Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt or higher) or equivalent process improvement methodology
- Proven ability to leverage structured analysis and insights to support strategic planning and decision-making
- Experience with AI tools and large dataset analytics for research and insight generation
- Skilled in benchmarking, maintaining competitor intelligence databases, and producing periodic market updates
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to influence senior stakeholders
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint, including dashboards, executive presentations, and reporting
- Strong leadership capabilities with experience managing a team of research and analytics professionals
- Ability to translate research findings into actionable recommendations and align product development with business objectives
