Job description
Grant Thornton UAE is hiring a Manager | VAT | Indirect Tax in Dubai, UAE, within the Indirect Tax service line providing advisory and compliance services related to VAT, excise tax, and customs duties. The team supports clients with navigating complex tax regulations through tax planning, risk management, and compliance with local and international tax laws, aiming to keep clients compliant and VAT efficient and to represent client interests in resolving complex or contentious matters. The Manager role involves acting as the day-to-day client point of contact and managing the delivery of quality indirect tax advice and compliance services, handling a variety of technical tax issues and client situations, delivering proactive high quality tax solutions while adhering to associated risk and compliance governance guidelines, preparing high-quality tax reports and professionally presented documents, overseeing client proposal requests and timelines, managing budgets, administration and financial performance of client engagements, supervising junior indirect tax professionals, and supporting the GT deals team with tax due diligence projects. Required experience includes 5–7+ years of related work in VAT and GST and M&A tax, with strong M&A experience dealing with VAT aspects of M&A transactions, current relevant knowledge of the VAT Act and relevant case law, and experience advising clients on sophisticated tax-related issues. Professional qualification is required (CTA, CA, UAE Tax/ Vat Diploma). UAE VAT experience and Arabic speaking are advantageous. The role includes willingness and ability to work additional hours as needed and travel to various client sites.

Experience & skills
- Bring 5–7+ years of related work experience in VAT and GST as well as M&A tax
- Demonstrate UAE VAT experience as advantageous
- Hold professional qualification such as CTA, CA, or UAE Tax/ Vat Diploma
- Maintain current relevant knowledge of VAT Act and relevant case law
- Demonstrate strong M&A experience dealing with VAT aspects of M&A transactions
- Be technically strong with experience advising clients on sophisticated tax-related issues
- Demonstrate strong written and spoken English, with Arabic speaking advantageous
- Be willing and able to work additional hours as needed and travel to various client sites
