Job description
The Sr Product Specialist META+ Rare Disease role at AstraZeneca is a full-time commercial position within the biopharmaceutical and rare disease space, supporting the company’s expansion in rare diseases following the acquisition of Alexion in 2021. The role is based in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and supports AstraZeneca’s mission to deliver life-changing medicines for rare diseases with significant unmet medical needs. The position is responsible for generating clinical demand for rare disease medicines by engaging healthcare professionals (HCP), identifying new patient and patients-on-therapy opportunities, presenting value propositions, and recommending patient-centric solutions. The Sr Product Specialist serves as a therapeutic, product, and territory expert, leveraging deep scientific understanding of rare diseases, mechanisms of action, treatment protocols, product efficacy and safety profiles, and approved indications. The role works closely with the Sales Manager to deploy and adapt the AZ account management strategy locally, manage market development objectives, increase disease awareness, and establish and develop a key opinion leader (KOL) network. Responsibilities include organizing workshops and educational events, collaborating cross-functionally with medical, marketing, market access, and diagnostic teams, managing allocated budget, sharing insights to strengthen brand positioning and access to treatment, and ensuring optimal product utilization aligned with national and local guidelines and product licenses. All activities are conducted in strict compliance with AstraZeneca’s Code of Conduct, business ethics, marketing procedures, company policies, local laws, and regulatory requirements. The role requires hospital business experience, preferably within niche markets or orphan drugs, experience in neurology or metabolic rare diseases, and a strong sales performance track record within the rare disease portfolio environment in KSA.
