The Senior Medical Representative (Pharmaceutical Sales) at AstraZeneca in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia is responsible for promoting and commercialising prescription medicines within an assigned sales territory while supporting the company’s mission as a global science-led, patient-focused biopharmaceutical organization focused on the discovery, development, and commercialisation of prescription medicines for serious diseases. The role operates within AstraZeneca’s transformation in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia aligned with Saudi Vision 2030, where the organization is investing in talent, digital solutions, and innovative ways of working to improve patient outcomes and strengthen leadership across therapeutic areas. The position forms part of a new and expanding team and is responsible for influencing healthcare professionals’ prescribing behaviour through engagement on approved indications and detailed product efficacy and safety profiles to ensure on-label prescribing for appropriate patients. The role focuses on achieving sales targets, maximizing sales volume and market share for designated products, and executing territory development strategies. Responsibilities include maintaining excellent medical knowledge related to assigned disease areas and AstraZeneca products, delivering clinical information and technical medical information to healthcare professionals, and ensuring promotional activities remain compliant with AstraZeneca Code of Conduct (AZ CO) and all regulatory requirements related to interactions with healthcare professionals and distribution of pharmaceutical samples. The role requires developing and executing a local territory strategy and business plan in partnership with the Sales Manager to achieve or exceed sales and call execution objectives. It also requires performing sales forecasting and ensuring that assigned budgets and sales expectations for therapeutic areas and territories are met or exceeded. The representative must maintain in-depth knowledge of the pharmaceutical market within the assigned territory, including market trends, demographic insights, and managed markets dynamics. The role requires successful completion of product training and product examinations and the application of promotional skills and pharmaceutical sales expertise during engagements with healthcare professionals. Operational effectiveness depends on the use of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and broader Microsoft Office tools for reporting, analysis, presentations, and territory planning. The role requires fluency in English and focuses on delivering value to patients, healthcare providers, and the healthcare system while strengthening AstraZeneca’s presence in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

- Complete all required product training and product examinations to maintain up-to-date product knowledge and promotional expertise for designated pharmaceutical products
- Engage primary care healthcare professionals in scientific dialogue regarding approved indications, product efficacy and safety profiles to support appropriate on-label prescribing
- Develop and execute a local territory strategy and business plan in collaboration with the Sales Manager to meet or exceed sales targets and call execution goals
- Drive pharmaceutical sales performance by achieving or exceeding assigned sales forecasts, therapeutic targets, and territory budgets
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of pharmaceutical market dynamics including market trends, demographic insights, and managed markets information relevant to the assigned sales territory
- Provide clinical information and technical medical information to healthcare professionals while ensuring compliance with AstraZeneca Code of Conduct and regulatory requirements governing interactions with healthcare professionals and distribution of pharmaceutical samples
Experience & skills
- Hold Saudi nationality and possess a Bachelor’s degree in pharmaceutical science
- Demonstrate a minimum of 2 years of experience working within a pharmaceutical company with pharmaceutical sales exposure
- Exhibit proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Office tools for reporting, analysis, and presentations
- Demonstrate pharmaceutical selling skills and the ability to communicate clinical information and product efficacy and safety profiles to healthcare professionals
- Maintain fluency in English to support professional communication and presentations within the healthcare environment
- Possess knowledge of pharmaceutical promotional practices, regulatory compliance for healthcare professional engagement, and distribution of pharmaceutical samples
