Job description
The Senior Systems Engineer (Trading Systems) supports the delivery of QatarEnergy Tradingās strategic transformation vision by aligning application architecture and technology solutions with long-term business goals. The role works closely with business and IT stakeholders to elaborate requirements, design and implement efficient application solutions, manage product backlogs, and support implementation through collaboration with technical teams. The position provides expert technical services across commodities trading applications, supporting business change onboarding and implementation while ensuring alignment with IT standards, architecture, and integration best practices. The role requires deep expertise in commodities trading environments, particularly LNG, with strong experience in C/ETRM systems, end-to-end trading lifecycle processes, and front-to-back office operations across trading, shipping, and finance.

Key responsibilities
- Assist delivery of the strategic vision for QatarEnergy Trading transformation aligned with long-term goals and architecture
- Work with key stakeholders to elaborate requirements and design efficient application solutions
- Design and implement trading and related application solutions
- Manage product backlogs and coordinate implementation with technical teams
- Collaborate across IT and commercial functions to deliver integrated solutions
- Engage directly with business teams using a customer-first approach
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders across different organizational levels and disciplines
- Assess impact of business change and support onboarding and implementation
- Provide expert technical support and services for trading-related applications in coordination with ICT entities
Experience & skills
- Minimum 9 years of experience in commodities trading with IOCs, trading houses, NOCs, or vendors
- Strong experience designing and implementing C/ETRM solutions
- Strong understanding of commodity markets with preference for LNG
- Advanced knowledge of trading strategies, risk management principles, and trading technologies
- End-to-end front-to-back office trade lifecycle knowledge across trading, shipping, and finance
- Specialized experience in at least one area including Physical LNG Trading, Cargo Operations, Shipping, Derivative and Emission Trading, Trading Risk and Finance, or Portfolio Optimization
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical requirements
- Experience managing product backlogs and technical documentation
- Familiarity with IT standards, best practices, architecture, integration, and delivery methods
- High proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and collaboration tools
- Comfortable working with SQL queries and Excel
- Experience with C/ETRM tools such as Openlink, TriplePoint, or Allegro
- Product knowledge of Planlogic EOS, Veson Nautical IMOS, and SAP is an advantage
- Practical experience with agile frameworks; PMP or Prince2 certification is an advantage
- Bachelorās degree in technology or finance from an internationally recognized university
- Postgraduate qualification such as MSc, PhD, or MBA is an advantage
