Job description
The Lead Engineer – OT Cyber Security at Wood is responsible for advising, designing, implementing, and leading cybersecurity solutions for industrial control systems across the energy and materials industries. The role delivers principal consulting on ICS cybersecurity, ensuring compliance with industry and company standards, conducting cybersecurity gap assessments using frameworks such as NIST, ISA 27001, and ISA/IEC-62443, and supporting the development of OT cybersecurity resilience roadmaps. The position provides technical leadership across projects, supports Wood’s Digital Integration service portfolio growth, contributes to business planning and proposal development, and represents Wood within the professional cybersecurity community. The role encompasses hands-on design, specification, selection, configuration, testing, commissioning, and lifecycle management of industrial cybersecurity solutions, including firewalls, network infrastructure, and recovery systems, while maintaining alignment with evolving threat landscapes, plant operations, and digital twin architectures.

Key responsibilities
- Advise clients on and design cybersecurity solutions for industrial control systems within the energy and materials industries
- Conduct cybersecurity gap assessments using NIST, ISA 27001, and ISA/IEC-62443 frameworks
- Develop and support implementation of OT cybersecurity resilience roadmaps
- Provide principal consulting on ICS cybersecurity to customers, project personnel, and delivery teams
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, company policies, and cybersecurity best practices
- Support growth, development, and delivery performance of Industrial Cybersecurity and Digital Integration projects
- Contribute to development and execution of business plans aligned with Wood’s Digital Integration strategy
- Consult on strategic, contractual, technical, commercial, operational, and personnel challenges impacting cybersecurity delivery
- Maintain awareness of cybersecurity standards, technical practices, and emerging threat trends affecting ICS environments
- Promote ICS cybersecurity principles and practices across the organization
- Support business development through presentations, estimates, and proposal responses
- Build and maintain an internal cybersecurity knowledge base and reusable resources
- Represent Wood at industry forums, professional committees, webinars, and through publication of white papers
- Maintain and grow relationships with strategic and key clients and execution partners
- Facilitate client meetings and engage with operations and IT stakeholders
- Manage technical interfaces with third-party control system vendors and suppliers
- Prepare execution plans considering operational constraints and technical assurance requirements
- Specify, select, configure, test, and commission cybersecurity equipment and materials
- Support project teams during solution delivery and manage technical and commercial change
- Deliver projects within agreed budget and schedule targets
- Provide OT cybersecurity technical leadership and standards compliance across projects
Experience & skills
- Possess a minimum degree-level qualification in engineering, science, computer science, or mathematics
- Have 10 or more years of experience in OT or ICS cybersecurity roles
- Demonstrate experience with IT/OT cybersecurity management systems, risk assessments, and risk mitigation in industrial automation environments
- Show hands-on experience specifying, selecting, configuring, testing, and implementing industrial firewalls, backup and recovery solutions, and network security tools
- Have hands-on experience deploying switches, routers, firewalls, and industrial networking equipment
- Demonstrate exposure to multiple control system vendors and industrial networking platforms
- Possess hands-on experience using cybersecurity tools for monitoring, capture, analysis, and patch updates
- Hold relevant certifications such as IEC, ISA, GICSP, or equivalent
- Demonstrate proposal development and project costing experience
- Exhibit strong understanding of plant operations and digital twin solution architectures
