Job description
The Senior Instrumentation Designer will complete a variety of high-quality instrumentation design assignments, particularly for offshore oil and gas projects. They will develop 3D models, detail design drawings, and ensure clash-free integration with other disciplines using tools such as AutoCAD, E3D, and AVEVA. The role involves managing design documentation, interfacing with multiple teams, supporting fabrication and construction activities, and guiding junior designers.

Key responsibilities
- Prepare and develop high-quality conceptual, FEED, and detail design drawings
- Develop and maintain clash-free 3D models
- Ensure all design deliverables are in accordance with project specifications and deadlines
- Identify scope changes and raise change notifications in the system
- Coordinate with other disciplines to develop integrated design solutions
- Raise technical queries to clarify scope and maintain design standards
- Attend project kickoff, review, vendor, and site meetings as required
- Set up and maintain discipline design files and drawing archives
- Review vendor documents and integrate vendor data into project drawings
- Perform design verifications via SDC and IDC checks
- Maintain check drawings and update records as needed
- Prepare and update material take-offs and deliverables registers
- Support fabrication and construction site teams to resolve design-related issues
- Guide and mentor junior and trainee designers on software and standards
- Assist in the development and maintenance of design procedures and technical standards
- Participate in lessons learned sessions and capture insights in the company system
- Assist in progress reporting, including planning, forecasting, and productivity tracking
- Generate various instrumentation design deliverables such as layout drawings, logic diagrams, and schematics
Experience & skills
- High school graduate with diploma in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Design/Drafting or equivalent
- Minimum 6 years of experience with major contractor/consultant
- 2+ years of experience in offshore oil and gas design projects
- Proficient in AutoCAD, MicroStation, and/or E3D
- Experience with AVEVA Instrumentation is an advantage
- Knowledge of industry detailing standards and QA systems
- Skilled in AutoLISP programming and 3D model creation
- Capable of performing design verifications and clash resolution
- Good communication and documentation skills
