Job description
The International Tax Manager at Petrofac is responsible for delivering commercial and strategic tax advice across all phases of international projects, covering all tax types including direct, indirect, and employment taxes. This includes reviewing and advising on contractual documentation, overseeing compliance and implementation of transfer pricing policies, managing risks, and supporting the UAE corporate tax implementation. The role involves supporting tax planning, structuring, and audits, and collaborating with various internal teams such as commercial, legal, treasury, and internal audit. A key focus is on enhancing tax processes and systems, ensuring alignment with group tax strategy, and promoting continuous improvement in tax governance, automation, and process effectiveness.

Key responsibilities
- Deliver practical and strategic tax advice for international projects throughout their lifecycle
- Review and challenge material transactions from a tax risk perspective
- Assess contractual documentation to identify and mitigate tax risks
- Support UAE corporate tax implementation and transfer pricing policy development
- Ensure TP documentation and disclosures are consistent and compliant
- Manage tax planning and structuring including APA applications and recharging mechanisms
- Provide support on tax and TP audits and controversies
- Oversee tax compliance and risk management for Petrofacās global employment company
- Enhance tax-related systems, controls, and processes including automation
- Monitor and communicate changes in tax legislation affecting the business
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align tax advice with broader business strategy
- Drive continuous improvements in tax process efficiency and governance
- Manage tax adviser engagement to remain within budget
- Advise on optimized tax structures that withstand regulatory scrutiny
- Assess and recommend responses to complex tax risks
Experience & skills
- Professional qualification such as UK Chartered Institute of Taxation ATII, UK Chartered Accountant, or equivalent
- Strong knowledge of international tax, including direct, indirect, employment taxes, and transfer pricing
- Experience in industry or practice within a relevant tax role
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to interpret technical tax legislation and communicate with non-specialists
- Self-starter with project leadership and completion skills
- Capacity for independent analysis and problem-solving
- Strong organizational and time management abilities
