Job description
The Senior QC Engineer â Rotating & Packages role is based in Abu Dhabi within Woodâs Oil, Gas & New Energies business, supporting large-scale upstream and midstream Oil and Gas projects. The position leads a team of Onshore Senior QC Engineers responsible for rotating equipment and packaged systems, ensuring procurement and construction activities comply with applicable codes, standards, specifications, and project requirements. The role encompasses procurement quality management, vendor and subcontractor selection and approval, inspection and test planning and execution, criticality rating management, non-conformance control, and performance evaluation of vendors and subcontractors. The Senior QC Engineer oversees procurement quality objectives and KPIs, manages technical bid evaluations, technical queries, and change management, and liaises with third-party inspection agencies. The role requires deep experience in rotating equipment and packages across major greenfield and brownfield Oil & Gas projects, with exposure to both office and site-based environments. The position also includes leadership responsibilities such as mentoring QC engineers, coordinating with engineering, procurement, construction, and project management teams, managing schedules and deliverables, ensuring compliance with HSE regulations, and participating in design and safety reviews including P&ID, HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, ALARP, 3D model reviews, constructability, and SIMOPS reviews. The role contributes to Woodâs commitment to delivering safe, reliable, and high-quality energy infrastructure aligned with energy transition and decarbonization objectives.

Key responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of Senior QC Engineers responsible for rotating equipment and packages on large-scale Oil and Gas projects
- Participate in vendor and subcontractor selection, evaluation, and approval processes
- Manage procurement quality activities including inspection and test planning and execution
- Implement and manage criticality rating for rotating equipment and packages
- Conduct vendor and subcontractor inspections, audits, and non-conformance management
- Define and manage procurement quality objectives and key performance indicators
- Perform performance analysis and evaluation of vendors and subcontractors
- Control procurement quality documentation and records in accordance with project requirements
- Conduct technical bid evaluations, manage technical queries, and oversee change management processes
- Liaise with third-party inspection agencies to ensure compliance and inspection coverage
- Prepare and issue procurement quality performance reports to stakeholders
- Review and approve vendor and subcontractor documents for compliance with specifications
- Ensure compliance with applicable project codes, standards, specifications, and special requirements
- Identify technical issues, evaluate alternative solutions, and issue technical deviations and queries
- Allocate tasks, monitor QC deliverables, and ensure adherence to project schedules and budgets
- Coordinate with project managers, engineering disciplines, procurement, and construction teams
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and quality compliance of all QC deliverables
- Participate in project workshops and reviews including design, P&ID, HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, ALARP, 3D model, constructability, and SIMOPS reviews
- Promote and enforce health, safety, and environmental compliance across all QC activities
Experience & skills
- Bachelorâs Degree in QC Engineering as a minimum qualification
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in Oil & Gas projects
- At least 5 years of experience in a Senior Engineer role on major greenfield or brownfield projects
- Proven experience in rotating equipment and packaged systems
- Experience working in both office-based and site-based project roles
- Strong knowledge of procurement quality management, inspections, audits, and non-conformance control
- Knowledge of engineering work planning, inter-discipline coordination, and construction practices
- Ability to communicate effectively in English verbally and in writing with multinational teams
- Experience working under tight schedules in fast-paced, multi-disciplinary project environments
