Job description
The Head of Geography at GEMS Wellington Academy, Silicon Oasis, is responsible for leading and managing the Geography department within the primary school, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning aligned with the school's mission of developing students who are 'World Class and World Ready.' This role requires mentoring and supporting a team of Geography teachers, implementing evidence-based teaching pedagogy, and fostering creative and engaging lesson delivery. The Head of Geography oversees curriculum development, differentiates learning to meet the needs of all students, and ensures assessment practices are robust and reflective. They contribute to school-wide culture, extra-curricular activities, and community events while maintaining strong relationships with colleagues, students, and parents. The role emphasizes continuous professional development, collaborative practice, and upholding the high standards recognized by the Dubai Schools Inspection Bureau (DSIB) and British Schools Overseas frameworks, including High Performance Learning (HPL) methodologies and the school’s 'World Class School' status.

Experience & skills
- BEd or Bachelors degree with PGCE / PGDE or equivalent
- Proven experience in teaching Geography with a track record of outstanding learning and teaching

- Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration with colleagues, students, and parents
- Creativity and enthusiasm in lesson planning and delivery
