Job description
The Senior Proficient – Cloud & Core Infrastructure Design role at Omantel sits within the Technology and Infrastructure unit under Infrastructure Planning & Design and is responsible for leading the design and delivery of scalable, secure, and resilient cloud and on-premises infrastructure solutions. Acting as a senior infrastructure architect, the role shapes enterprise technology strategy through advanced architectural frameworks that support cloud adoption, hybrid integration, and core platform optimization. The position drives infrastructure modernization initiatives, designs multi-cloud and hybrid architectures across AWS, Azure, and GCP, manages Kubernetes and VMware environments, develops HLD and LLD documentation, oversees vendor and tendering processes, supports CAPEX and OPEX planning, ensures compliance and security, and champions cost optimization using FinOps principles. The role also leads disaster recovery and business continuity design, lifecycle management of enterprise software licenses, monitoring and observability frameworks, and mentoring initiatives to strengthen organizational infrastructure capability.

Key responsibilities
- Lead design and planning of enterprise infrastructure solutions across multi-cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments
- Drive cloud adoption and modernization initiatives including application migration and platform optimization
- Architect and manage Kubernetes and VMware clusters ensuring high availability and fault tolerance
- Develop and validate High-Level and Low-Level Designs for cloud-native and on-prem infrastructure components
- Prepare Scope of Work documents and lead infrastructure tendering and evaluation processes
- Support CAPEX and OPEX planning in collaboration with finance and leadership teams
- Manage lifecycle of enterprise software licenses including IBM, Oracle, and Microsoft
- Build and manage vendor, system integrator, and stakeholder relationships including SLAs and contracts
- Design and implement disaster recovery and business continuity solutions including DR testing
- Define monitoring, observability, and alerting frameworks across hybrid infrastructure
- Drive cost optimization using FinOps, reserved capacity planning, and workload right-sizing
- Ensure compliance with infrastructure security frameworks, IAM policies, encryption, and regulatory requirements
- Design and execute complex cloud migration strategies with minimal service disruption
- Establish and monitor infrastructure KPIs and SLAs to proactively manage risks and capacity
- Mentor and support knowledge sharing across infrastructure and architecture teams
Experience & skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering or a relevant field
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in cloud and infrastructure architecture or design roles
- Hands-on experience with multi-cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, and GCP
- Strong expertise in hybrid cloud, Kubernetes, and VMware environments
- Experience developing HLD and LLD documentation and leading infrastructure tenders
- Knowledge of FinOps principles, cost optimization, and infrastructure budgeting
- Strong understanding of infrastructure security, disaster recovery, and regulatory compliance
