Job description
The Network and Security Engineer supports and enhances the hospitalās network infrastructure and cybersecurity operations across all UAE sites. This dual-role position involves configuring and maintaining routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless systems while also monitoring and responding to security events through SIEM, IDS/IPS, and endpoint protection tools. The engineer supports incident response, participates in vulnerability management, maintains documentation, and ensures compliance with network and security standards. The role blends proactive network optimisation with reactive troubleshooting, working closely with senior infrastructure and security teams within a mission-critical healthcare IT environment.
Required skills
Key responsibilities
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless systems
- Monitor and optimize network performance across multiple hospital locations
- Manage LAN/WAN connectivity, VPN solutions, and bandwidth usage
- Maintain network topology diagrams, IP schemes, and documentation
- Perform firmware updates and patching for network devices
- Monitor SIEM, IDS/IPS, and endpoint protection systems
- Detect, analyse, and support investigations of security incidents
- Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation for network and security operations
- Configure and maintain security gateways, ACLs, and firewall rules
- Contribute to vulnerability management and remediation
- Manage antivirus, EDR, and NAC solutions
- Document network changes, incidents, SOPs and ensure audit compliance
- Provide technical support for network and security issues
- Assist with internal security awareness initiatives
Experience & skills
- 1ā3 years of experience in network administration, infrastructure, or cybersecurity
- Knowledge of TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, and VPN technologies
- Hands-on experience with switches, routers, firewalls, and security tools
- Exposure to SIEM, incident response, and vulnerability management
- CCNA, Network+, or Security+ (required or highly desirable)
- CEH, CCSA, Fortinet NSE, CCNP are advantages
- Bachelorās degree in a relevant IT/engineering field
- Strong troubleshooting and documentation skills
