Job description
OQ8 is seeking a Mechanical & Piping Engineer to support engineering services, project execution, and plant modifications for the Duqm Refinery & Petrochemical facility. The role involves troubleshooting existing systems, implementing engineering solutions, performing risk and HAZOP studies, developing and reviewing designs, and ensuring compliance with international codes and standards. The candidate will work closely with internal stakeholders and external contractors to deliver engineering solutions on time and on budget.

Key responsibilities
- Develop and monitor performance measures for project engineering services
- Prepare and maintain work packages and project plans
- Review and approve contracts, Scope of Work (SOW), and engineering deliverables
- Analyze and resolve recurring engineering and operational problems
- Review conceptual and preliminary designs for piping and static equipment
- Perform risk assessments, HAZOP, and failure analyses
- Monitor plant modifications and improvements from design to completion
- Ensure compliance with engineering standards, codes, and project specifications
- Develop fitness-for-service evaluations for static equipment and piping
- Provide technical clarification to contractors and evaluate bids
- Coordinate with project teams to maintain accurate as-built documentation
- Develop training programs for junior engineers
Experience & skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 5–8 years of experience in mechanical and piping engineering within Oil & Gas / Refinery / Petrochemical sectors
- Experience with project execution, plant modification, and equipment optimization
- Proficiency with PDMS, SP3D, CAESAR, Navisworks, AutoCAD, SAP PM/MM/FM modules
- Strong knowledge of ASME, API, ASTM, TEMA standards
- Experience interpreting P&ID, PFD, and technical drawings
- Strong communication, planning, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to coordinate field operations and office-based engineering activities
