Job description
The Platform & DevOps Specialist at Bede, Zain Bahrain’s fintech subsidiary, is responsible for architecting, building, and maintaining cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines for fintech applications. The role emphasizes cloud adoption strategy, platform reliability, security, and scalability across hybrid cloud and on-premise environments. Responsibilities include implementing DevSecOps practices, ensuring regulatory compliance with standards such as PCI-DSS and SOC 2, monitoring and observability using Prometheus, Grafana, Dynatrace, and ELK stack, and integrating security scanning into CI/CD pipelines. The specialist leads infrastructure and platform management including Kubernetes clusters, hybrid connectivity, disaster recovery, business continuity, and ensuring ≥99.99% availability of critical financial services. The role also involves collaboration with Zain technical teams, mentorship of junior engineers, architectural guidance, and driving automation initiatives leveraging Agentic Software Development integrated CI/CD pipelines. The position demands expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), container orchestration, infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation), CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, ArgoCD), scripting (Python, Bash), programming languages (Go, Java, Kotlin, Swift, Flutter), and networking (TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, VPN). Experience in fintech, financial services, or regulated industries is strongly preferred.

Key responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable, secure cloud infrastructure supporting fintech applications
- Define platform standards, best practices, and architectural patterns for the engineering organization
- Lead technical decision-making for infrastructure investments and technology selection
- Create reusable Infrastructure as Code modules, Helm charts, and templates
- Design disaster recovery and business continuity solutions meeting business requirements
- Manage and optimize cloud infrastructure for performance, cost, and reliability
- Implement and maintain Kubernetes clusters for containerized workloads
- Design and operate hybrid connectivity between cloud and on-premise systems
- Ensure platform achieves ≥99.99% availability for critical financial services
- Design, implement, and optimize CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI, or ArgoCD
- Drive automation initiatives to reduce manual operations and deployment time
- Implement GitOps practices for infrastructure and application deployments
- Integrate security scanning (SAST, DAST, SCA) into CI/CD pipelines
- Embed security controls throughout the software delivery lifecycle
- Implement secret management, encryption, and access control best practices
- Ensure infrastructure compliance with PCI-DSS, SOC 2, and regulatory requirements
- Implement comprehensive observability and alerting strategies using Grafana, Dynatrace, and runbooks
- Lead incident response and conduct post-mortem analysis for platform issues
- Collaborate with Zain technical teams on integration, security standards, and shared services
- Mentor Platform & DevOps Specialists and junior engineers and lead technology communities
Experience & skills
- Possess 3–5 years of experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering, or Site Reliability Engineering
- Demonstrate expertise with cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Have production experience with Kubernetes and hybrid cloud/on-premise environments
- Possess advanced Infrastructure as Code skills using Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation
- Have expert-level proficiency in CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or ArgoCD
- Demonstrate knowledge of container orchestration, Helm, and service mesh technologies (Istio/Linkerd)
- Experience in fintech, financial services, or regulated industries strongly preferred
- Proficient in monitoring and observability tools including Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK stack
- Implement DevSecOps practices and security scanning with tools like Snyk, SonarQube, Dependency Track
- Strong scripting and programming skills in Python and Bash; experience with Go, Java, Kotlin, Swift, Flutter
- Demonstrate networking expertise including TCP/IP, load balancing, DNS, VPN/hybrid connectivity design
- Ability to lead platform reliability, security, and scalability initiatives
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
