Job description
The Junior Technical Architect is responsible for preparing technical drawings, coordinating with site teams, ensuring compliance with codes, and reviewing shop drawings and material submittals. The role includes conducting site inspections, preparing snag lists, coordinating with MEP teams for integrated solutions, supporting value engineering efforts, and maintaining technical documentation and compliance records. This position ensures accuracy, regulatory adherence, and smooth collaboration between design and site execution teams.

Key responsibilities
- Prepare detailed technical drawings including plans, sections, elevations, and details, ensuring full compliance with architectural standards and project specifications, and coordinate closely with site teams to implement design accurately
- Review and approve shop drawings submitted by contractors and vendors, verifying that proposed materials and construction methods comply with design intent, project specifications, and applicable building codes
- Conduct regular site inspections to identify any deviations from approved drawings, create comprehensive snag lists, and follow up with contractors to resolve discrepancies promptly
- Coordinate extensively with MEP teams to ensure that mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems are fully integrated into architectural plans, identifying potential clashes and providing solutions
- Support value engineering efforts by analyzing materials, construction techniques, and design alternatives to optimize project costs without compromising quality or compliance with regulations
- Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including drawing revisions, approvals, compliance records, and material submittals, ensuring organized and accessible project records for audit and client purposes
- Collaborate with senior architects and project managers to address technical challenges, provide solutions, and ensure that all deliverables meet client expectations and regulatory requirements
- Assist in preparing project reports, presentations, and documentation required for client meetings, regulatory approvals, and internal project tracking
Experience & skills
- 3–4 years of experience in architectural design or technical architecture roles, preferably in large-scale construction projects
- Proficiency in preparing technical drawings, including plans, sections, elevations, and construction details, with attention to accuracy and adherence to design standards
- Experience reviewing shop drawings, material submittals, and construction methods to ensure compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and building codes
- Practical experience conducting site inspections, identifying deviations, and preparing detailed snag lists to facilitate timely resolution of construction issues
- Ability to coordinate with MEP teams to integrate mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems into architectural designs while resolving potential conflicts
- Knowledge of value engineering principles, evaluating alternative materials, methods, or design approaches to reduce costs while maintaining quality and compliance
- Experience maintaining technical documentation, compliance records, and organized project files for easy retrieval and audit purposes
- Capability to collaborate with senior architects, project managers, and clients to ensure successful project execution, adherence to schedules, and fulfillment of client expectations
