Manager – Product Management, Cross Border Payments role at Mastercard within the EEMEA Product Management Team, aligned to Mastercard’s Transfer Solutions portfolio of integrated assets and capabilities for international and domestic payments enabling connectivity to endpoints including account, card, mobile wallet, or cash payout. The role works with customers primarily large pan-regional Group Banks to drive Mastercard’s strategic and commercial agenda in Cross Border Payments including Low Value B2B/Commercial Payments, P2P Remittances, and purpose-based payments such as Bill Payments, Tuition Payments, Utility, and Social Security. The role is positioned as a product/solutioning function responsible for providing commercial and technical solutions to drive sale and launch of Mastercard’s Cross Border Payments assets to large pan-regional banks, owning the Sales Solutioning cycle end-to-end for large or multi-market prospects and positioning assets as standalone deals or multi-product engagements. Partners with Mastercard Account Management and in-country Cross-Border Sales teams during sales and/or implementation cycles to provide deep subject matter expertise for opportunity conversion, and also drives internal concept selling at account/country level for appropriate customer engagement to drive conversion and market adoption in partnership with cluster teams. Responsibilities can include being accountable for conversion of the opportunity cycle by owning the commercial and techno-functional solution while counterpart teams own relationship and revenue realization, or alternatively leading complete sales and GTM efforts within assigned territories and accounts including relationship management and full-scale P&L responsibilities with minimal supervision. The role requires ability to communicate product capabilities for markets and clients, work with multiple internal teams to deliver required capabilities, and maintain strong cross-functional relationships to advance Transfer Solutions agenda. The ideal profile includes experience in product management roles in cross border payments processing teams of large transaction banks working in or focused on Africa or solutioning roles within cross border payments or market infrastructure providers; understanding of African payments landscape and constructs; expertise in how money moves across banks and borders including correspondent banking, evolving SWIFT and ISO messaging standards, settlement and funding structures; ability to identify gaps and solutionize Mastercard assets with customers; knowledge of NOSTRO pricing, currency control and correspondent de-risking challenges; understanding of SWIFT, RTGS, ACH, and emerging multilateral payment schemes in Africa and alternate technical architecture knowledge as a plus; first-hand experience across business and sales lifecycle including prospecting, conversion funnel, launch, and P&L responsibilities; and capability to hold deep subject matter conversations with banking leaders across transaction banking, treasury, retail and payment system design. Corporate security responsibilities require abiding by Mastercard security policies and practices, ensuring confidentiality and integrity of accessed information, reporting suspected information security violations or breaches, and completing periodic mandatory security trainings.

- Partner with Mastercard Account Management and in-country Cross-Border Sales teams during sales and implementation cycles to provide subject-matter expertise required for opportunity conversion
- Drive internal concept selling at account and country level to enable appropriate customer engagement and conversion for cross-border solutions
- Drive market adoption of Mastercard cross-border solutions in partnership with cluster teams
- Communicate required product capabilities for markets and clients and work with internal teams across the organization to deliver capabilities
- Develop and maintain strong cross-functional working relationships to drive the Transfer Solutions agenda
- Lead complete sales and GTM efforts within assigned territories and accounts including relationship management and full-scale P&L responsibilities when accountable for end-to-end sales and GTM model
- Abide by Mastercard security policies and practices by ensuring confidentiality and integrity of accessed information, reporting suspected information security violations or breaches, and completing periodic mandatory security trainings
Experience & skills
- Have worked in product management roles in cross border payments processing teams of large transaction banks working in or focused on Africa or have worked in solutioning roles within the cross border payments industry or market infrastructure providers
- Understand the African payments landscape and how money moves across banks and borders including correspondent banking dynamics, evolving nature of SWIFT, ISO messaging standards, and settlement and funding structures
- Be able to identify gaps and solutionize by positioning Mastercard assets with customers while holding subject-matter conversations with banking leaders across transaction banking, treasury, retail, and payment system design
- Understand NOSTRO pricing and challenges of currency control and correspondent de-risking
- Understand SWIFT, RTGS, ACH, and emerging multilateral payment schemes and constructs that exist in Africa with knowledge of alternate technical architecture as a plus
- Have first-hand experience of business and sales lifecycle including prospecting, conversion funnel management, launch, and P&L responsibilities
- Demonstrate success working with stakeholders across business units, functions, and markets in support of cross-functional projects and programs
- Comply with Mastercard corporate security responsibility requirements including abiding by security policies, ensuring confidentiality and integrity of information, reporting suspected security violations, and completing mandatory security trainings
