Job description
The Sr. Pipeline Engineer is responsible for the study, design, and specification of pipeline systems for onshore and offshore oil and gas projects. Based in Al Khobar, this role covers route selection, field surveys, material selection, coating and cathodic protection systems, leak detection, and associated facilities such as valve, terminal, and pump stations. The position requires independent technical judgment, the ability to address complex engineering challenges, and leadership of small project teams or functional segments within larger projects.

Key responsibilities
- Perform pipeline routing studies, layout planning, and field surveys.
- Develop detailed engineering designs including material selection, coating systems, and cathodic protection.
- Design and specify leak detection systems, valve stations, pump stations, and terminal facilities.
- Prepare technical specifications, engineering calculations, and design documentation.
- Address complex engineering challenges including conflicting design requirements and material limitations.
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate assigned engineering work packages.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to designers and junior engineers.
- Lead functional segments of projects, including budgeting, organizing, and performance oversight when assigned.
- Ensure compliance with industry codes, standards, and project requirements.
- Support cost control, operational efficiency, and profitability objectives through optimized engineering solutions.
Experience & skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
- Minimum 7+ years of related pipeline design experience (GES+), with typical experience averaging 10 years.
- Strong background in onshore and offshore oil & gas pipeline projects.
- Experience in FEED and Detailed Design phases.
- Broad knowledge of engineering precedents, codes, and industry standards.
- Ability to work independently and exercise professional judgment.
- Professional Engineer (Licensed/Chartered) certification preferred.
- Must be locally available in Saudi Arabia.
