Job description

Backend services and APIs at the core of business capabilities and digital products need building, maintaining, and supporting to established engineering and security standards, and that is the focus of this Junior Backend Engineer role. You will develop and maintain backend services in Java and Spring Boot within a microservices architecture, translating functional and technical requirements into working, tested software. Integration work connects services with databases, internal platforms, and external partner systems, with event streaming and messaging tools such as Kafka and MQ used under guidance from senior engineers. Clean, maintainable, and testable code stays the standard throughout, backed by unit testing, debugging, and defect resolution as part of the daily routine. Secure coding practices run through the work too, covering authentication, authorization, and data protection requirements. Deployment and monitoring happen on containerized platforms such as OpenShift and Kubernetes through established CI/CD pipelines, with support extending to production troubleshooting under senior guidance when issues arise. Code reviews, technical discussions, and squad ceremonies are a regular part of the rhythm, alongside maintaining technical documentation and contributing to the ongoing improvement of development practices and application quality.
