Job description
The Senior Engineer – Cable Package will be responsible for supporting Middle East projects within the GPC Engineering Function, Design & Analysis Group, RIAU department, focusing on power cable procurement follow-up, configuration design, and installation analysis. The role includes development of the discipline through technology development, workstream initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts. The engineer will coordinate multi-disciplinary teams, manage vendor and supplier interactions, ensure all documentation and design complies with client specifications, industry Codes, Standards, Design Guides (API, DnV, ISO), and Subsea 7 internal standard (BMS). The position involves technical oversight of cable/umbilical procurement, evaluation of supplier proposals, interface management with SCM, QC, PEM, Package managers, clients, and other stakeholders, as well as supporting offshore/off-site execution during mobilizations, FATs, SITs, and pre-commissioning activities. The role also encompasses mentoring junior engineers, transferring knowledge within the discipline, developing internal tools, guidelines, templates, and supporting Oil & Gas SURF projects, FEED studies, and tenders on cable/umbilical packages as required.

Key responsibilities
- Coordinate engineering team activities to meet project constraints, schedules, and workload optimization.
- Organize regular team meetings, maintain action registers, and issue progress reports including man-hour tracking and technical change management.
- Attend project, vendor, and multi-disciplinary design review meetings with internal teams and clients.
- Manage Power Cable/Umbilical procurement packages including technical scope development, vendor evaluation, and proposal selection.
- Plan, detail, and review technical documentation for cable/umbilical systems, topside interfaces, cross-section design, end terminations, and ancillary hardware.
- Serve as the owner of supplier documents, ensure internal review, consolidation of comments, and resolution with vendors.
- Identify and manage project interfaces across contractors, clients, package managers, SCM, QC, HSE, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with industry codes, standards, design guides, client specifications, and internal Subsea 7 standards.
- Follow-up on supplier design, manufacturing, and testing activities; visit supplier sites when necessary.
- Provide engineering support during mobilizations, FATs, SITs, and pre-commissioning.
- Train and mentor junior engineers, support knowledge sharing, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support Oil & Gas SURF projects, tenders, and FEED on cable/umbilical packages as required.
Experience & skills
- Engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in cable/umbilical package management.
- At least 3 years of experience in Saudi Arabia and Qatar projects preferred.
- Proven ability to produce deliverables including design calculations, specifications, procedures, progress reports, and engineering support documentation.
- Experience leading small engineering teams.
- Knowledge of installation, on-bottom stability, routing, crossings, and subsea controls.
- Practical experience in multi-disciplined system engineering teams.
- Vendor and third-party interface experience.
- Orcaflex in-place and installation analyses.
- Flexible system design capability.
- Understanding of installation methodology and constraints for cable/umbilical packages.
