Job description
The role involves routine inspections of faƧades, internal structures, external paving, roads, and internal finishes within the Amaala Yacht Club under the Sports and Entertainment division. The Civil Engineer ensures that buildings remain compliant with relevant codes, manages minor new works as in-house projects, and oversees additions and alterations. Responsibilities include interpreting schematic diagrams, blueprints, sketches and building plans, understanding material finishes and construction requirements, and maintaining expertise in specialty chemicals, epoxies, paints and PU coatings including reading technical datasheets and MSDS documents. The engineer guides painters and applicators on mixing percentages and maintains awareness of shelf-life and pot-life constraints. Duties include performing setting-out plans on site, independently handling assigned projects, following job site safety protocols, and assessing the quality of woodwork and materials. The role ensures compliance with local building codes and health and safety regulations, conducts weekly, monthly and quarterly inspections of wooden, steel and civil structures, recommends maintenance and submits budget requests where needed. The engineer reviews CAFM work requests daily with Amrak, monitors work quality, inspects completed works, certifies them and raises NCRs where needed. Additional responsibilities include preparing documentation for minor new works and additions, initiating procurement and delivering these projects in a timely manner. The role supports the Amaala Yacht Clubās mission to provide a world-class facility that fosters yachting and marine activities aligned with ocean health principles.

- Independently handle assigned projects while ensuring job site safety
- Assess quality of materials and woodwork
- Ensure compliance with building codes and health and safety regulations
- Inspect wooden, steel and civil structures on scheduled intervals and recommend maintenance
- Submit budget requests to Facilities Manager where required
- Review CAFM work requests daily with Amrak, monitor and control quality of works
- Inspect and certify Amrakās completed works and issue NCRs when necessary
- Prepare documentation for minor new works and additions & alterations
- Initiate materials procurement and execute MNW/A&A in a timely manner
Experience & skills
- Hold a degree in Civil Engineering
- Demonstrate ability in material selection and civil engineering calculations for loading structures
- Possess 12ā15 years of experience in maintenance and fit-out of high-quality buildings such as hospitals, hotels or corporate headquarters (construction experience not accepted)
- Show capability to lead teams of workers from various trade disciplines and nationalities
- Exhibit polite and courteous demeanor with strong task prioritization skills in fast-paced environments
- Show ability to manage deadlines with limited supervision and cope with pressure and setbacks
- Be well-versed in basic computer systems and civil-engineering-related software
- Demonstrate English language proficiency and strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
