Job description
The role serves as Lead Commercial Advisor supporting Wood’s Iraq Operations Business from a full-time office-based position in Dubai. It is responsible for maximizing commercial performance, managing business and project risks, commercialising service offerings, ensuring compliance with commercial and contracting policies, resolving disputes and claims, managing cash collection issues, and embedding robust commercial governance and assurance across projects and sub-Business Groups. Key responsibilities include leading post-award contract administration, ensuring contracts are correctly set up in business systems, managing bonds, letters of credit, collateral warranties and PCGs, and ensuring timely and accurate invoicing with full contract entitlement. The role oversees development and maintenance of commercial plans, including commercial strategy, subcontracting strategy and profit improvement plans, conducts regular cost analysis to maximize recoverable costs, minimize disallowable costs and identify cost reductions, and prepares project cashflow forecasts, expenditure tracking and payment expediting in line with client contract requirements. The advisor prepares submissions for contracting policy approvals, highlights areas of risk and mitigation, ensures all DOA matters are properly approved, participates in project reviews and delivers inputs to contract and internal reporting requirements. Additional responsibilities include negotiating terms and conditions with clients, suppliers and partners, supporting governance of the Financial Management Framework, administering risk management processes and supporting pursuit of claims. The position requires regular coordination with internal commercial, legal, finance, compliance, project management, engineering and operations teams, as well as external clients, suppliers and auditors, while upholding the highest standards of ethics, integrity and safety leadership.

- Maintain commercial models, scope understanding and commercial administration files
- Manage bonds, letters of credit, collateral warranties and PCGs
- Ensure timely provision of contract deliverables including bonds, PCGs and insurance evidence
- Prepare contracting policy approval requests and highlight risks with mitigation strategies
- Develop, implement and maintain project commercial plans including commercial and subcontracting strategies
- Conduct regular cost analysis to maximize recoverable costs, minimize disallowable costs and identify cost savings
- Ensure adequate cost accruals and provisions are in place
- Develop and maintain DOA processes and ensure commercial matters are correctly approved
- Prepare project cashflow forecasts, expenditure tracking and expedite payments according to contract obligations
- Support preparation and analysis of inputs for contract and internal reporting requirements
- Assist with governance and implementation of the Financial Management Framework
- Support negotiation of terms and conditions with clients, suppliers and partners
- Support administration of risk management processes and assertive claims pursuit or defence
- Participate in internal project reviews and subcontracting strategy development
- Collaborate with corporate functions including Tax, Insurance, Legal and Finance
Experience & skills
- Hold a degree in Quantity Surveying, Law, Business Studies or equivalent with a relevant professional qualification preferred
- Possess a minimum of 5 years in a similar role and over 10 years of progressive experience in the oil and gas industry
- Show awareness of all relevant corporate and project procedures
- Demonstrate proven experience in contract administration including change management
