Job description
The Senior Quality Engineer (Mechanical) at Wood Sharjah provides comprehensive quality assurance and inspection support for EPC/PMC projects, including both Greenfield and Brownfield modifications, supporting client energy transition and emissions reduction goals. The role includes maintaining and implementing Project Quality Plans, Quality Strategies, and objectives, inspecting procurement packages, performing risk-based audits, participating in vendor and supplier evaluations, conducting root cause analyses, ensuring compliance with ISO 9001-2015 and industry standards, coordinating internal and external inspections, documenting and reporting quality activities, and supporting project closeout. The position may involve business travel to Iraq and requires interfacing with clients, third-party inspectors, and internal teams to uphold quality standards, manage critical project deliverables, and ensure corrective actions are addressed.

Key responsibilities
- Maintain and implement Project Quality Plans, Quality Strategies, and Objectives
- Support Lead QA/QC for quality estimates and inspection of procurement packages
- Conduct site quality leadership surveillance visits and external/internal audits
- Provide input to contract quality risk registers
- Support corrective actions by approving new actions and verifying closure
- Perform root cause analysis of project nonconformities
- Capture client feedback and monitor improvement actions
- Deploy robust criticality assessment process throughout projects
- Verify inspection levels of products and materials
- Review and approve technical bid evaluations and contractor/vendor documentation
- Control quality documentation during and after project completion
- Coordinate vendor/supplier product/material inspection activities
- Prepare inspection packages and assign qualified inspectors
- Report non-conformances, inspection deficiencies, and punch list items
- Facilitate recall, quarantine, and replacement of defective products/materials
- Ensure upload of inspection reports to document management system
- Review and approve third-party inspection invoices
- Liaise with client quality representatives and ensure closure of inspection requirements for project closeout
Experience & skills
- Degree in Engineering (Mechanical background)
- IRCA Certified Lead Auditor - ISO 9001-2015
- Welding Inspector certification (CSWIP 3.1/3.2 or equivalent)
- NDE Level II qualification
- Painting Inspector certification – NACE Level II or BGAS
- Minimum 10+ years of Oil and Gas experience
- Experience in procurement support activities for EPC/PMC projects
- Middle East experience in Post order Vendor packages, Major packages, Pressure Vessels, API 610 Pumps, Rotary Packages, Control Valves, Skid Packages, Duplex materials
- Good planning and organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Ability to work independently and in multi-cultural environments
- Analytical, problem-solving and systematic thinking skills
- Good communication skills in written and spoken English
