Job description
The Registered Nurse in the Adult Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Kings College Hospital Dubai is responsible for delivering high standards of holistic and evidence-based patient care in accordance with DHA and internal clinical guidelines. This includes managing patients requiring advanced critical care interventions such as airway management, ventilation support, CVVHDF, and invasive monitoring. The role also entails supporting patients and families, coordinating care with the multidisciplinary team, maintaining comprehensive medical documentation, and ensuring compliance with infection control and patient safety standards.

Key responsibilities
- Delivers a high standard of evidence-based care to patients at KCH.
- Adhere to the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) guidelines, as well as all clinical guidelines and regulatory guidelines.
- Manage patients requiring level 3 critical care including advanced airway management, ventilation, invasive lines, inotropic support, and CVVHDF.
- Manage critical emergencies and interpret blood gases.
- Adhere to infection control principles.
- Maintain competencies in cardiac arrest management (BLS and ACLS).
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care continuously.
- Provide clear, sensitive updates to patients and families.
- Uphold high care standards in all departments based on policy and evidence-based practices.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and respect patient rights including cultural and religious beliefs.
- Educate and support patients, caregivers, and families regarding care and healthy lifestyles.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure integrated care delivery.
- Communicate patient condition and needs effectively to the MDT.
- Work flexibly to maintain safe staffing levels or pursue professional development.
- Participate in nursing audits and adverse incident reporting.
- Maintain accurate and legible patient health records as per hospital policy.
Experience & skills
- UAE Medical Health Authority License required.
- Bachelorās degree in Nursing or equivalent with a minimum 2-year program duration.
- Registered Nurse qualification from Canada, USA, UK, Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand, or Australia.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a hospital or similar setting.
- Valid resuscitation certification relevant to specialty (e.g., BLS, ACLS).
- Ability to communicate effectively across professions and with patients.
- Problem-solving capability and appropriate response to urgent clinical situations.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrable record of ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
- Commitment to excellent patient care and maintaining professional standards.
