Job description
The Duty Manager – Light Maintenance at Etihad Airways in Abu Dhabi is responsible for overseeing daily light maintenance activities, ensuring aircraft are maintained, certified, and returned to service in accordance with GCAA regulations and Etihad operational standards. Reporting to the Senior Manager Aircraft Maintenance (Line & Light), this on-site role supervises base and light maintenance operations, coordinates with MCC, manages shift teams, monitors training and certification currency, and ensures adherence to Safety Management System (SMS) procedures. The position requires extensive experience in aircraft maintenance, certification, operational planning, risk assessment, incident management, and regulatory compliance, ensuring optimal operational efficiency, safety, and quality of maintenance activities for Etihad’s fleet.

Key responsibilities
- Oversee daily light maintenance activities and deputize for Senior Manager L&L.
- Ensure maintenance is carried out to the highest aviation industry standards and best practices.
- Certify own work and work of others after verification according to approved maintenance data.
- Coordinate with MCC to ensure timely completion of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.
- Monitor aircraft documentation for accuracy and completeness and certify aircraft for release to service.
- Review working practices, leave, accidents, and sickness reports, taking necessary actions.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and SMS requirements including risk assessments.
- Manage shift handovers and ensure continuity of operations.
- Promote a professional approach when dealing with customers and employees.
- Monitor training currency and provide necessary coaching and support to shift employees.
Experience & skills
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in aircraft maintenance with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
- Experience managing base/light maintenance operations within an airline or MRO.
- Valid Aircraft Maintenance Engineering License convertible to GCAA with minimum 2 Etihad aircraft types (level 3).
- High School leaving Certificate or University/College degree.
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
- Knowledge of SMS systems and risk assessment procedures.
- Ability to ensure compliance with aviation safety and quality standards.
- Experience in shift management and operational continuity.
