The Produce Specialist (Fresh Food Operations & Quality Management) role within a retail grocery environment is responsible for managing produce operations across multiple stores, ensuring consistent product quality, freshness, and availability in alignment with Panda Retail Company’s fresh food strategy. The role focuses on implementing and maintaining produce quality standards, handling procedures, and merchandising guidelines to protect product integrity and customer trust while supporting sales performance and customer satisfaction. The position involves monitoring key performance indicators such as availability, waste, shrinkage, and freshness to drive sales growth and cost control, while coordinating produce planning and replenishment requirements with supply chain and store teams to ensure timely product availability. The role ensures strict adherence to food safety standards, hygiene and sanitation procedures, and regulatory compliance across all produce operations. Responsibilities include managing stock rotation practices such as FIFO and expiry control to minimize waste and losses, analyzing produce quality issues and customer feedback, and implementing corrective and preventive actions to address operational risks. The position also involves preparing performance reports, quality summaries, and recommendations for senior leadership, while supporting capability development of produce specialists through coaching and guidance. The role requires proficiency in Microsoft Office, data analysis, reporting, visual merchandising, shrinkage management, and cross-functional coordination within a fresh food retail environment.

Key responsibilities
- Manage produce operations across assigned stores by ensuring consistent product quality, freshness management, and availability of produce items in alignment with fresh food strategy and customer expectations.
- Implement and monitor produce quality standards, handling procedures, and merchandising guidelines to protect product integrity, enhance visual merchandising, and maintain customer trust in fresh food offerings.
- Track and analyze performance indicators including availability, waste management, shrinkage management, and freshness levels to support sales growth, operational efficiency, and cost control objectives.
- Coordinate produce planning and replenishment planning activities with supply chain and store teams to ensure timely product availability and optimal inventory management across locations.
- Ensure execution of food safety standards, hygiene and sanitation procedures, and regulatory compliance across all produce operations to maintain high safety and quality standards.
- Review and enforce stock rotation practices including FIFO and expiry control processes to minimize waste, reduce shrinkage, and optimize product lifecycle management.
- Support development and capability building of produce specialists through coaching, performance feedback, and guidance to improve operational execution and adherence to quality standards.
- Analyze produce quality issues, customer feedback, and operational risks, implementing corrective and preventive actions to enhance product quality, reduce losses, and improve customer satisfaction.
- Prepare detailed produce performance reports, quality summaries, and actionable recommendations for the Director of Fresh Food to support data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.
Experience & skills
- Demonstrate a minimum of 5 years of technical experience in fresh food produce operations with in-depth knowledge of product features, quality standards, and handling procedures.
- Possess strong expertise in food safety standards, hygiene and sanitation procedures, and regulatory compliance within fresh food retail environments.
- Exhibit proficiency in inventory management, including stock rotation, FIFO, expiry control, shrinkage management, and waste management practices.
- Show experience in visual merchandising and merchandising guidelines implementation to enhance product presentation and customer engagement.
- Demonstrate capability in supply chain coordination and replenishment planning to ensure efficient product availability across stores.
- Possess strong analytical and reporting skills with the ability to monitor performance indicators, conduct data analysis, and prepare performance reports using Microsoft Office.
- Exhibit ability to support team development through coaching, performance feedback, and cross-functional collaboration within retail operations.
- Demonstrate proficiency in communication skills in English and Arabic, supporting effective coordination across teams and stakeholders.
