Job description
This role supports the Engineering team at Jumeirah Messilah Beach by performing comprehensive carpentry maintenance across all wooden fixtures, fittings, and carpentry-related assets within the resort. The Engineering Technician – Carpentry is responsible for attending breakdowns, identifying faults, and carrying out repairs, refurbishments, and replacements to maintain high operational standards in line with the Jumeirah Engineering Management System. Duties include executing daily work orders, completing carpentry jobs such as door adjustments, hinge repairs, furniture restoration, wooden paneling, lock work, painting touch-ups, and gypsum repairs. The role includes delivering Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) and Corrective Work Actions (CWA), maintaining accurate work order records, requesting materials and tools properly, and ensuring a clean, organized workshop. The technician collaborates with Engineering, Housekeeping, and other departments, responding professionally to guest and colleague requests while minimizing service disruptions. Compliance with health, safety, Fire Life Safety (FLS), and environmental regulations is essential, along with reporting hazards, unsafe conditions, and performing duties with high levels of safety, efficiency, and service consistency within a multicultural hospitality environment.

Key responsibilities
- Attend carpentry-related breakdowns, identify faults, and perform repairs, replacements, and refurbishments
- Respond to daily work orders and complete tasks such as door adjustments, hinge repairs, furniture and paneling work, lock repair, painting touch-ups, and gypsum work
- Conduct Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) and Corrective Work Actions (CWA) to required quality standards
- Report damages, missing items, and major defects to supervisors and propose repair solutions
- Record completed work accurately in the work order system
- Follow procedures for requesting tools, materials, and spare parts
- Maintain tools, equipment, and workshop area in good condition
- Assist in improving operational efficiency and ensuring smooth, safe operation of carpentry assets
- Respond professionally to guest and colleague requests and provide accurate timelines
- Coordinate tasks with Engineering, Housekeeping, and other departments
- Follow all safety procedures and report hazards and near misses immediately
- Adhere to Fire Life Safety (FLS) and environmental regulations
Experience & skills
- High School Diploma
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Carpenter Technician in the hospitality industry
- Ability to handle multiple tasks
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment
