Job description
The Team Leader β Direct Procurement at Julphar is responsible for managing procurement activities related to pharmaceutical raw materials, finished products, and commercial items. This role ensures timely purchase order creation, vendor management, supplier performance evaluation, and compliance with company procurement policies. The Team Leader oversees day-to-day procurement operations, monitors purchase requisitions and deliveries, and ensures that purchased materials meet quality specifications. The position also focuses on negotiation with suppliers, resolving supply chain issues, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring timely delivery of materials. The role involves performance tracking, procurement KPI reporting, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives to enhance procurement efficiency. The Team Leader works closely with cross-functional teams including supply chain, manufacturing, finance, and quality assurance to support operational requirements and maintain uninterrupted production processes. Strong analytical skills, negotiation capabilities, and leadership qualities are essential to drive procurement excellence and optimize supply chain performance.

- Manage purchase order creation and validation for pharmaceutical raw materials, finished goods, and commercial items based on approved vendor lists. The Team Leader ensures accuracy in procurement documentation, validates purchase requests, and monitors approvals while maintaining compliance with company procurement policies. This responsibility also includes coordinating with stakeholders to ensure that procurement activities align with production schedules and business requirements.
- Oversee daily procurement operations by monitoring purchase requisitions, deliveries, and supplier performance across departments. The Team Leader ensures that procurement activities are executed efficiently, materials are delivered on time, and any supply chain disruptions are addressed promptly. Continuous monitoring of procurement workflows helps maintain operational efficiency and avoid production delays.
- Negotiate purchase terms, pricing agreements, and delivery schedules with suppliers to achieve cost-effective procurement solutions. The Team Leader must evaluate supplier proposals, conduct cost analysis, and ensure favorable contractual agreements. Strong negotiation skills are required to balance cost efficiency with quality and delivery requirements.
- Evaluate supplier performance and ensure compliance with quality specifications and regulatory requirements. The Team Leader conducts supplier assessments, tracks vendor performance metrics, and collaborates with quality teams to address non-compliance issues. This responsibility ensures that all purchased materials meet company standards and regulatory guidelines.
- Manage procurement-related issues including supply shortages, delivery delays, quality discrepancies, and vendor disputes. The Team Leader coordinates with internal departments and suppliers to resolve challenges and implement corrective actions. Effective issue management ensures smooth supply chain operations and minimizes operational risks.
- Track procurement KPIs and generate performance reports to support decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives. The Team Leader analyzes procurement data, identifies trends, and recommends process enhancements. This responsibility supports operational excellence and drives efficiency improvements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including supply chain, manufacturing, finance, and quality assurance to support procurement requirements. The Team Leader ensures alignment between procurement strategies and business objectives while maintaining effective communication across departments.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to optimize procurement processes, enhance supplier relationships, and improve operational efficiency. The Team Leader identifies process gaps, introduces new systems, and promotes best practices within the procurement team.
Experience & skills
- Bachelorβs degree in Pharmaceutical Science is required to ensure understanding of pharmaceutical materials, regulatory requirements, and supply chain operations. Candidates must demonstrate knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes and procurement best practices.
- Minimum of five years of supply chain or procurement experience, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry. Candidates must demonstrate hands-on experience managing procurement operations, vendor relationships, and purchase order processes.
- Strong negotiation skills are required to manage supplier relationships and secure favorable pricing and contractual terms. Candidates must demonstrate experience in vendor negotiations and cost optimization strategies.
- Proficiency in SAP, MS Office, and procurement-related applications is required. Experience with SAP Ariba or similar procurement platforms is considered an advantage. Candidates must demonstrate ability to manage procurement data and generate reports.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze procurement data, identify trends, and implement process improvements. Candidates must demonstrate experience in KPI tracking and performance management.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills are required to work with cross-functional teams and suppliers. Candidates must be able to convey complex procurement requirements effectively.
