Job description
The Electrical Commissioning Lead will take charge of planning, supervising, and executing commissioning activities for electrical systems on major oil, gas, and energy projects. The role requires hands-on leadership in the field, ensuring safe, compliant, and timely delivery of electrical commissioning tasks across multi-discipline teams. The position involves acceptance of mechanical completions, punch list closure, execution of pre-commissioning/commissioning procedures, vendor liaison, and integration with engineering and operations teams. With strong emphasis on safety, technical integrity, and readiness for operations, the Electrical Commissioning Lead ensures systems are fully tested, commissioned, and delivered operationally ready to clients.

Key responsibilities
- Lead execution of electrical commissioning procedures for assigned systems.
- Supervise, coordinate, and provide daily direction to commissioning technicians.
- Accept mechanical completion handovers from construction teams.
- Manage punch list items and ensure system readiness for commissioning.
- Prepare job cards and ensure accurate documentation of pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.
- Coordinate with HSE leadership to develop Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) for commissioning activities.
- Ensure strict compliance with PTW (Permit to Work) and site safety procedures.
- Review and interpret vendor documentation, engineering drawings, and technical manuals.
- Identify and allocate personnel and equipment resources for commissioning tasks.
- Attend factory acceptance tests (FAT) of major electrical equipment.
- Oversee vendors during commissioning phases and manage contractual deliverables.
- Liaise with CMS Custodian for documentation integrity, progress reporting, and database updates.
- Prepare reports and maintain records of commissioning progress and system performance.
- Resolve technical issues and recommend corrective actions to ensure project continuity.
- Foster collaboration across disciplines including operations, engineering, and construction.
Experience & skills
- Minimum 5 years of proven experience in Oil & Gas completion and commissioning activities.
- Proven supervisory experience in an electrical commissioning leadership role.
- Higher National Certificate (or equivalent) in Electrical or related Engineering discipline.
- Strong working knowledge of offshore facility regulations (BSEE, ABS, USCG).
- Proficient in managing electrical punch lists, mechanical handovers, and commissioning workflows.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Hands-on expertise in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and vendor documentation.
- Demonstrated safety leadership and familiarity with HSE practices.
- Ability to coordinate multi-discipline teams in a simultaneous operations environment.
