Job description
The Regional Customer Director – Aerospace & Aviation is responsible for leading and executing the regional commercial and strategic development of the aerospace and aviation sector across the Middle East and Africa. The role entails developing and implementing sector strategies aligned with global objectives, identifying growth opportunities with OEMs, MROs, airlines, and suppliers, and driving market penetration initiatives. The position ensures that revenue, gross margin, and EBIT targets are met, manages tender responses and commercial governance, and promotes operational excellence. Compliance with aviation regulations and export controls is essential, along with fostering digital transformation in logistics operations. The director also serves as executive sponsor for strategic customers, leading quarterly business reviews, strategic planning engagements, and capability-building across the region. Success is measured through revenue and margin growth, customer retention and expansion, win rate on tenders, customer satisfaction, and adherence to commercial governance standards.

- Develop and implement regional sector strategy for aerospace and aviation, aligned with global DHL objectives.
- Identify growth opportunities across OEMs, MROs, airlines, and aviation suppliers and drive market penetration plans.
- Lead go-to-market initiatives, strategic campaigns, and commercial proposals in the region.
- Serve as executive sponsor for strategic aerospace and aviation customers, leading QBRs and high-level strategic planning sessions.
- Own the delivery of revenue, gross margin, and EBIT targets across the region for assigned customer portfolios.
- Manage and oversee tender responses, commercial governance processes, and pricing strategies.
- Ensure compliance with aviation regulations, export controls, and internal company policies.
- Support issue resolution, mitigate operational risks, and champion digitalization and innovation in logistics services.
- Represent MEA in global sector forums, contributing to regional and global strategy discussions.
- Drive capability-building initiatives, mentoring, and training of regional teams to enhance commercial and operational performance.
Experience & skills
- 8–12 years of experience in commercial, supply chain, logistics, or aviation roles.
- Proven track record in managing strategic aerospace and aviation customers with measurable success in revenue and margin growth.
- Strong commercial acumen with advanced negotiation skills.
- Deep understanding of aerospace and aviation supply chains, including OEMs, MROs, airlines, and suppliers.
- Experience in leading tender processes and commercial governance activities.
- Ability to develop and execute regional strategies aligned with global corporate objectives.
- Excellent stakeholder management, leadership, and team development skills.
- Ability to analyze market trends, identify growth opportunities, and implement go-to-market strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to operate in a complex, multi-country environment, managing compliance, risk, and operational excellence.
- Fluent in English; additional languages relevant to the region are advantageous.
