Job description
The Director - Roads Design at Qiddiya Investment Company will lead the vision, strategy, and execution of all roadway and mobility infrastructure design initiatives across the development. This leadership role is responsible for designing world-class road systems that support Qiddiya’s mission to become a global entertainment, sports, and culture destination. The incumbent will oversee multidisciplinary project teams, ensure compliance with international engineering standards, and deliver sustainable, cost-effective transportation solutions that integrate seamlessly within the broader master development plan. This position requires a forward-thinking engineering leader with a proven record in complex road infrastructure projects and the ability to align technical excellence with strategic development goals.
Required skills
Key responsibilities
- Develop and lead road design strategies aligned with Qiddiya’s mobility and infrastructure objectives.
- Oversee complex road design projects from inception through completion, ensuring adherence to scope, budget, and timeline.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including architects, planners, and government entities, to ensure project alignment and regulatory compliance.
- Supervise the development, review, and evaluation of detailed design plans, specifications, and technical reports.
- Conduct and lead traffic impact studies, feasibility assessments, and environmental evaluations for proposed projects.
- Implement innovative design practices and sustainable engineering solutions in alignment with Qiddiya’s sustainability objectives.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the Roads Design team, fostering a culture of collaboration, technical excellence, and innovation.
- Monitor and manage project budgets, ensuring cost efficiency and value optimization.
- Stay abreast of new technologies, materials, and methodologies to continuously enhance design efficiency and quality.
- Represent Qiddiya in meetings with external agencies, consultants, and industry partners, ensuring strategic alignment and stakeholder confidence.
- Drive quality assurance across all design outputs, ensuring safety, compliance, and operational excellence.
- Contribute to the long-term mobility master plan and integrate road design solutions with broader transportation and urban planning strategies.
Experience & skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline; Master’s degree preferred.
- 10–12 years of professional experience in road design and civil engineering, including at least 5 years in senior leadership or project management roles.
- Demonstrated success in managing large-scale, complex road infrastructure projects within major urban or mixed-use developments.
- Expert proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other relevant road design and modeling software.
- Thorough knowledge of local and international road design standards and regulations.
- Strong understanding of sustainability principles and their application to civil infrastructure.
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage stakeholder relationships across multiple project phases.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with fluency in English (Arabic an advantage).
- Highly organized, analytical, and solutions-oriented, capable of handling multiple priorities under pressure.
