Job description
Hydrogen and steam from Air Products' HYCO Steam Methane Reformer unit in Jubail feed directly into a neighbouring refinery, so every shift has a customer depending on it. This supervisor leads the shift team running the unit and its ancillary equipment, stepping in to operate it when needed. Startups, shutdowns and emergencies all call for clear leadership on the spot. Safety comes first, built on the APQ Basic Safety Practice program, Safety Work Permits, LOTO and confined space controls. Production is managed on data, aiming for safe, reliable output at optimum energy efficiency. Logs need daily attention, from your own and your operators' entries to IOW Event Manager logs, active leak inspections each shift and mitigation plans for high-risk items. Refinery Shift Superintendents are regular contacts on feedstock, utilities, power and product demand, and you act as the single point of contact for internal HYCO issues. Incident investigations and root cause analysis, along with shutdown and turnaround planning, are part of the role too. At least 10 years in gas, petrochemical or related operations, including 4 in line supervision, is required, with HYCO knowledge a plus.
