Job description
The Planning Engineer III - Ops Planning operates within the Operational Planning section responsible for orchestrating seamless aircraft maintenance through Aircraft Scheduling, Line Planning, Line Support Planning, Base Operations Planning, Base Heavy Planning, and Projects. The function ensures optimal aircraft ground-time utilization by aligning maintenance schedules with work scoping and planning activities. Aircraft Scheduling coordinates maintenance windows to minimize flight disruptions, Work Scoping defines precise maintenance packages, Modification Planning manages minor upgrades to major structural improvements, and Special Projects handle end-of-lease work and storage management. The role supervises and develops Operational Planning functions for all aircraft types, engines and components, carrying out preparation, planning, technical reviews, analysis, verification, regulatory and performance reporting of key airworthiness tasks and reliability information to ensure the Emirates fleet is maintained to required standards of quality and airworthiness as defined by the regulatory authority and Engineering Procedures Manual. The position supports change programmes and proactive change culture, administers day-to-day work programs, supervises compliance planning across Line, Line Support, Base Operations and Base Heavy Maintenance horizons, oversees compilation and issuance of aircraft maintenance work packages, performs technical audits of Special Engineering Work Card, Engineering Order, Engineering Work Instruction, Maintenance Control Request and Deferred Defect review, acts as focal point for immediate compliance issues on a 24/7 basis, supports Operational Planning & Production Control for 24/7 coverage, and independently scopes fully defined C-checks and base heavy events such as paint or landing gear activities. The role requires a Bachelorās Degree in Aeronautical Engineering disciplines or Aircraft Maintenance Engineerās Licence, 5+ years of relevant experience including MRO or Airline environment exposure, detailed knowledge of aircraft/power plant systems, regulatory requirements, maintenance documentation, MSG 3 logic, MRB deviation, configuration control, Asset Management related to End-Of-Lease activities with Lessors, proficiency in MS Office, and knowledge of ULTRAMAIN as an advantage.

Key responsibilities
- Supervise and develop all Operational Planning functions across Aircraft Scheduling, Line Planning, Line Support Planning, Base Operations Planning, Base Heavy Planning and Projects, ensuring full alignment of maintenance schedules with work scoping, compliance with regulatory authority requirements and adherence to the Engineering Procedures Manual for all aircraft types, engines and components.
- Administer and control the day-to-day maintenance planning work programme by evaluating quality of output, reviewing systems and procedures, ensuring efficient running of allocated activities, maintaining consistent workload distribution, implementing system enhancements and driving continuous improvements across Operational Planning & Production Control on a 24/7 support basis.
- Plan and ensure compliance of all maintenance tasks within the defined planning horizons of Line, Line Support, Base Operations and Base Heavy Maintenance, guaranteeing timely compilation and issuance of aircraft maintenance work packages that optimise aircraft ground time, ensure cost effectiveness and avoid disruption to flight operations.
- Conduct detailed preparation, planning, technical reviews, analysis, verification, regulatory reporting and performance reporting of key airworthiness tasks and reliability information, ensuring that maintenance programmes meet required standards of quality and airworthiness for the Emirates fleet.
- Provide technical audit and verification of Work Package output and technical content including Special Engineering Work Card, Engineering Order, Engineering Work Instruction, Maintenance Control Request and Deferred Defect review, confirming that work packages are executable within resource constraints and allocated ground time.
- Act as focal point for immediate compliance issues within Line Maintenance Planning, Base Operations and Line Support, escalating risks that may affect modification programme implementation, and ensuring section representation in meetings to safeguard timelines and technical integrity.
- Independently scope and define fully detailed c-check events and base heavy owned events such as paint and landing gear inputs, coordinating with appropriate Operational Maintenance Planning teams to ensure completeness of task packages and compliance with maintenance documentation and regulatory requirements.
- Engage in change programmes and projects designed to implement positive change and proactive change culture, supervise the introduction of new technologies, oversee process and procedure improvements, and ensure staff are properly trained and developed to meet fleet growth, productivity targets and performance standards.
Experience & skills
- Obtain a Degree or Honours (12+3 or equivalent) with a Bachelorās Degree Engineering in Aeronautical subjects Mechanical/ Avionics/ Electronic/ Technical Engineering or hold a valid Aircraft Maintenance Engineerās Licence, providing formal academic and technical grounding in aircraft systems and maintenance practices.
- Demonstrate a minimum of 5+ years of experience in Maintenance Planning, Aircraft Scheduling, Reliability, Asset Management or as a Modifications Engineer, ideally on Emirates fleet types, ensuring broad exposure to operational airline maintenance environments.
- Possess at least 2 years of experience within an MRO or Airline environment with direct responsibility for managing people and performance, supervising planning teams and ensuring delivery against operational and regulatory objectives.
- Exhibit detailed understanding of aircraft/power plant systems and components, enabling accurate preparation, analysis and verification of maintenance tasks, work scoping and technical reviews for all aircraft types and associated engines.
- Maintain detailed knowledge of aircraft regulatory requirements and maintenance documentation, ensuring all maintenance planning activities, c-check inputs and base heavy events are compliant with regulatory authority standards and internal Engineering Procedures Manual requirements.
- Demonstrate full conversance with MSG 3 logic and MRB deviation processes, applying structured maintenance programme methodologies and deviation management principles within planning and work package development activities.
- Apply sound knowledge of configuration control and management, ensuring accurate tracking of aircraft configuration status, incorporation of modifications, and alignment with Asset Management requirements including End-Of-Lease activity with Lessors and coordination with MROs.
- Utilise strong knowledge of computer applications including MS Office for reporting, analysis and documentation, and leverage knowledge of ULTRAMAIN as an advantage to support maintenance planning systems, data management and Operational Planning & Production Control functions.
