Job description
Reporting to the Senior Vice President, PMO, the Global Director – Project Management (Logistics) at DP World leads and drives international, complex programs across the logistics division, owning project management for a global portfolio of Freight Forwarding product and technology initiatives (e.g., NPM/QT within TiAB) from strategy through adoption to achieve on-time, high-quality delivery and measurable outcomes. The role aligns Global, Regional and Group Technology teams across ocean FCL/LCL, air, and value-added services to standardize ways of working, harden master data/governance, and scale capabilities globally. It chairs the Freight Forwarding Communities roadmap council (Ocean, Air, VAS, Events & Milestones, Consolidation flows) to translate business strategy into a single JIRA-governed backlog and quarterly roadmap, set Gate 0–2 acceptance criteria and BRD quality standards, manage dependencies and release calendars, and de-duplicate work to drive timely releases. Accountabilities include PMO leadership, portfolio hygiene, JIRA/Confluence standards (workflows, statuses, labels, DOR/DOD, dashboards), publishing release notes and change impacts, and operating with data-driven metrics (throughput, cycle time, burn-up, defect escape rate). The director orchestrates operating rhythms with Regions, Product/Engineering, Procurement/Pricing, Finance, Legal/Compliance, and Ops Excellence; resolves technical and organizational blockers in cross-pillar, legal/compliance, and cybersecurity contexts; runs plan-of-record, critical path, and Plan A/Plan B scenarios for major drops (e.g., CRv3.1/3.2); and provides clear, concise executive status via a single source of truth (scorecards/OKRs) and SteerCo/Board readouts, ensuring governance, quality assurance, and continuous improvement across a fast-paced global portfolio.
Required skills
Key responsibilities
- Lead and govern a global portfolio of freight forwarding product/technology programs from strategy through adoption with clear scope, schedule, and quality outcomes.
- Establish and run the FF Communities roadmap council, translating strategy into a quarterly roadmap with Gate 0–2 criteria, BRD standards, dependency plans, and release calendars.
- Own JIRA/Confluence standards (workflows, statuses, labels, DOR/DOD, dashboards) and drive backlog hygiene, sequencing, and scope control across communities.
- Align Global/Regional/Group Technology teams across ocean FCL/LCL, air, and VAS to standardize ways of working and harden master data and governance.
- Publish release notes and change impacts, and operate the portfolio with data-driven metrics (throughput, cycle time, burn-up, defect escape rate).
- Orchestrate operating rhythms with Regions, Product/Engineering, Procurement/Pricing, Finance, Legal/Compliance, and Ops Excellence to drive timely, documented decisions.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate risks; run plan-of-record, critical path, and Plan A/Plan B scenarios for major releases (e.g., CRv3.1/3.2) and escalate blockers as needed.
- Provide executive reporting via a single source of truth (scorecards/OKRs), prepare SteerCo/Board readouts, and ensure portfolio transparency and control.
- Assist in developing and implementing project management methodologies and best practices; mentor PMO community on career paths and training.
- Lead process improvement initiatives to enhance delivery predictability, quality assurance, and portfolio performance across regions.
Experience & skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or related field; Master’s degree or PMP certification preferred.
- 10–12+ years delivering large, multi-region product/technology programs with proven success leading international, complex projects.
- Minimum 5 years’ proven experience in Freight Forwarding.
- Strong command of project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall) and PMO best practices.
- Hands-on expertise with JIRA (incl. Advanced Roadmaps/Portfolio) and data-driven portfolio management; proficiency with Confluence.
- Demonstrated leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Analytical mindset with problem-solving skills; able to manage multiple programs in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in logistics/transportation industry desirable but not essential; comfort operating across legal/compliance and cybersecurity interfaces.
