Job description
The IT Infrastructure & HW Engineer is responsible for specification, design, implementation, testing, and support of IT infrastructure within assigned UAE projects, based at Tawazun Industrial Park. The role includes delivery of IT infrastructure system requirements, high-level and low-level design documents, RFQs to suppliers, interface documentation, installation procedures, maintenance procedures, test procedures, and reports. The engineer analyzes user and system requirements, derives specifications for IT and hardware infrastructure, collaborates with DevOps and Integration & Test teams, and coordinates closely with CAD teams for single-line, wiring, and installation drawings. Responsibilities include interfacing with suppliers and subcontractors; defining hardware specifications; managing requests for quotation; tracking production, acceptance tests, delivery; handling obsolescence management; preparing Bills of Materials and definition files; following procurement of COTS; conducting training for peers and customers; attending site surveys and preparing survey reports; defining test procedures and conducting acceptance tests; supervising hardware and safety audits; and participating in internal and customer technical meetings. Technologies involved include RS232, RS422, discrete signaling, Ethernet, electrical cabling, AutoCAD, Cadence, Cisco, Alcatel-Lucent, Fortinet, Dell server and storage bay technologies, datacenter structured cabling, coaxial and discreet wire, UPS, datacenter standards such as TIA-942, and military or professional mobile radios. The role requires experience in integration with VHF/UHF communication systems, EMC fundamentals, low voltage directive, CE marking, server, storage, virtualization, and IT security controls including endpoint protection, PKI, server hardening, network security, and VM security. The position spans the full IT infrastructure lifecycle from requirements to handover and requires strong technical document writing, requirements specification, architecture modeling, technical analysis, multi-discipline collaboration, contractor coordination, and customer-facing capabilities.

Key responsibilities
- Deliver project documentation including IT infrastructure system requirements, high-level and low-level design documents, RFQs to suppliers, interface documents, installation and maintenance procedures, test procedures and reports
- Analyze user and system requirements and derive specifications for IT and hardware infrastructure
- Collaborate with DevOps and Integration & Test teams to define implementation specifications
- Provide inputs to CAD teams and review single-line, wiring, and installation drawings
- Interface with suppliers and subcontractors, defining hardware specifications and scope of work
- Request quotations, follow up on production, acceptance tests, and delivery, and manage obsolescence
- Present requirements and implementation specifications to the infrastructure team and conduct peer reviews
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, review, daily meetings, and retrospectives
- Prepare Bills of Materials and electrical/mechanical definition files and follow COTS procurement
- Prepare and deliver training materials to peers and customers
- Attend site survey visits and prepare survey reports
- Define test procedures and conduct hardware and installation acceptance tests
- Specify requirements and supervise hardware and safety audits
- Participate in internal and customer technical meetings
Experience & skills
- Hold a BSc in computer science or equivalent qualification
- Have 5 years of experience in technical design, IT/HW engineering, and engineering development lifecycles
- Bring experience integrating radio communication systems including VHF/UHF communications
- Demonstrate proven experience leading engineering activity through design lifecycle and platform installation, preferably in military or defence industry
- Understand EMC fundamentals, low voltage directive, and CE marking
- Have working experience across server, storage, virtualization, and network domains
- Possess experience implementing IT security controls including endpoint protection, PKI, server hardening, network security, and VM security
- Possess full lifecycle IT infrastructure experience including requirements, design, implementation, installation, testing, and handover
- Hold qualifications in IT infrastructure subsystems such as network, communication, datacenter, virtualization, and software integration
- Preferred certifications in VMware or Linux system administration
- Be fluent in written and spoken English; French and/or Arabic is an advantage
