Job description
Western Union is seeking a Manager of Business Development in Dubai, UAE, responsible for expanding and managing the remittance agent network and strengthening relationships within the UAE market. The role focuses on identifying growth opportunities, acquiring new agents, improving in-store performance, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and operational standards. The candidate will work across marketing, operations, compliance, product, and finance teams, monitoring market trends, competitor movements, and regulatory changes. Key responsibilities include agent acquisition, partner performance improvement, cross-functional collaboration, and acting as a subject-matter expert on UAE remittance corridors, exchange houses, banks, FinTech players, and MTOs. The position requires travel within UAE, adherence to compliance policies, and driving revenue growth through solution-based selling and strategic agent engagement.

Key responsibilities
- Develop, manage, and expand relationships with existing and new remittance agents across UAE for sustained growth and market penetration
- Lead agent acquisition initiatives targeting high-potential partners aligned with Western Unionβs strategic priorities
- Drive agent performance via sales strategies, in-store optimization, pricing initiatives, promotions, and product adoption across digital and physical channels
- Identify, evaluate, and execute growth opportunities within remittance and payments ecosystem including banks, exchange houses, retail chains, and FinTech partners
- Collaborate with marketing, operations, compliance, product, and finance teams to ensure agents meet regulatory, operational, and performance standards
- Monitor UAE, regional, and global remittance market trends, competitor movements, and regulatory changes to inform strategic decision-making
- Act as subject-matter expert on UAE remittance landscape including customer behavior, corridor dynamics, and competitive positioning
- Ensure adherence to local regulatory requirements and internal compliance policies, mitigating risks with agents
- Travel regularly within UAE to manage agent relationships, support performance, and execute business initiatives
Experience & skills
- Minimum 8 years of experience in business development within remittance, money transfer, or financial services sector in UAE
- Proven experience in remittances, payments, FinTech, digital wallets, cross-border payments, or alternative payment solutions
- Strong understanding of UAE remittance ecosystem including exchange houses, banks, FinTech players, regulators, and customer corridors
- In-depth knowledge of global and regional Money Transfer Operators (MTOs), operating models, products, pricing strategies, and competitive dynamics
- Proven client-facing experience in account management, partnership development, or agent/merchant acquisition
- Solid understanding of AML/KYC regulations and compliance standards applicable to UAE remittances and payments
- Proven solution-based selling skills with track record of driving revenue growth, market share expansion, and partner performance improvement
- Ability to work independently with proactive, results-driven mindset and manage multiple priorities
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional and multicultural teams
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-management skills; Arabic language skills are a strong advantage
