Job description
Johnson & Johnson is seeking a Legal Director to lead legal operations across the Gulf and Saudi Arabia for its Innovative Medicine division. This role involves providing strategic legal counsel to senior management, advising on regulatory, commercial, and compliance matters, managing contracts and disputes, and shaping external legal policy in the pharmaceutical sector. Based in Dubai or Riyadh, the Legal Director will also play a critical role in cross-functional collaboration, compliance training, and supporting strategic business initiatives. The ideal candidate will have extensive legal experience within the region, preferably in the healthcare or pharmaceutical sector, and demonstrate exceptional judgment, leadership, and communication skills.

Key responsibilities
- Manage legal services with significant impact on pharmaceutical commercialization
- Provide strategic legal counsel to senior management across Gulf countries and Saudi Arabia
- Advise on commercial, regulatory, IP, corporate, and competition law compliance
- Engage in legal policy development and regulatory shaping
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts ensuring risk mitigation and legal integrity
- Manage legal disputes and coordinate litigation with local teams and external counsel
- Collaborate on strategic projects including market access and digital healthcare initiatives
- Lead training sessions on legal and compliance topics for internal teams
- Integrate Johnson & Johnsonâs Credo and Leadership Imperatives in decision-making
Experience & skills
- Law degree from a reputable institution; LLM preferred
- Licensed attorney with at least 10 years post-qualification experience
- Experience in multinational companies or law firms within Gulf or Saudi Arabia
- Experience in pharmaceutical or healthcare industry highly desirable
- Exceptional analytical and negotiation skills
- Strategic thinking and proactive legal problem-solving ability
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a matrixed, fast-paced environment
- Proven mentoring ability for junior legal staff
- Track record of shaping external environments through legal strategy
- Familiarity with healthcare regulatory trends and changes
