Job description
The Business Development Specialist at Tamara plays a critical role in the Commercial team, focusing on expanding the company’s merchant partner base and driving revenue growth in the GCC e-commerce ecosystem. This role requires managing both inbound and outbound leads, identifying potential high-value partnerships, and nurturing relationships from initial contact through deal closure. The specialist collaborates closely with Partnerships Managers, Partner Success, and Marketing teams to strategize and prioritize outreach campaigns based on potential impact and market segmentation. Responsibilities include researching target markets, analyzing competitors, creating unique business propositions, and presenting tailored solutions to prospective merchants. The specialist will also track business development metrics, report on pipeline performance, and implement best practices to scale Tamara’s core products and services. The position requires a blend of relationship management, analytical skills, commercial awareness, and execution capabilities to drive measurable growth and enhance Tamara’s position as a leading fintech platform in the region.

Key responsibilities
- Identify, qualify, and develop new business opportunities and partnerships for Tamara in the GCC region
- Manage inbound leads and conduct initial outreach through phone, email, and social media channels
- Engage potential merchants to understand their business goals and challenges and present Tamara’s value proposition
- Collaborate with Partnerships Managers, Partner Success, and Marketing teams to design and implement strategic outreach campaigns
- Perform market research to identify trends, opportunities, and potential high-value clients
- Create data-driven business insights, reports, and PowerPoint presentations for merchant pitches and internal decision-making
- Develop and implement efficient processes and best practices for merchant onboarding and pipeline management
- Track business development KPIs, report on revenue and client acquisition metrics, and suggest improvements for pipeline efficiency
- Support revenue growth, market share expansion, and merchant engagement in line with Tamara’s strategic objectives
- Ensure a high-quality client experience throughout the partnership lifecycle, from first contact to deal closure
Experience & skills
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as business, finance, marketing, or economics
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in business development, sales, or lead generation, preferably in fintech or e-commerce
- Proven track record in acquiring new clients and driving revenue growth
- Fluent in written and spoken English with excellent communication and presentation skills
- Strong analytical abilities to create insights from data and support strategic decision-making
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities
- Experience using CRM tools and managing business development pipelines
- Negotiation and deal-closing experience with merchants or partners
- Familiarity with the GCC e-commerce ecosystem and understanding of merchant challenges and opportunities
- Highly motivated, goal-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
