Job description
The Senior Electrical Engineer (Renewable Energy – Clean Energy Integration) role within OQ Alternative Energy LLC in Oman is responsible for supporting the development of renewable energy projects including solar PV, wind, energy storage, and emerging low-carbon technologies. The role focuses on leading electrical engineering activities during pre-Final Investment Decision (pre-FID) stages, ensuring technical feasibility, grid compliance, cost optimization, and bankability of clean energy projects. The position involves leading electrical system architecture development including MV and HV systems, substations up to 400kV, export systems, and single line diagram (SLD) preparation. The engineer leads grid interconnection strategies and performs power system studies such as load flow, short circuit, transient stability, reactive power, and harmonic analysis. The role includes direct interface with grid operators such as OETC and PDO to ensure compliance with grid codes and connection requirements. The engineer is responsible for preparing electrical engineering studies, specifications, Basis of Design, and FEED deliverables while evaluating EPC proposals and supporting FAT, SAT, and commissioning activities. Additional responsibilities include cost estimation, CAPEX/OPEX control, procurement support, technical bid evaluation, contract management, and multidisciplinary coordination. The role ensures compliance with IEC, IEEE, NEC, ISA standards, local Omani grid regulations, and HSSE requirements while maintaining technical accuracy and design quality. The position also supports asset management and operations teams and contributes to risk assessment, engineering documentation, and technical reporting across renewable energy project development phases.
