Job description
The FX Specialist at Emirates NBD is responsible for driving foreign exchange business growth through both new client acquisition and increased wallet share from existing SME customers. The role focuses on cross-selling FX and related treasury products, maintaining client relationships, and ensuring Emirates NBD remains a primary banking partner for FX transactions. This position requires close collaboration with the Head of Cross Sell, business banking relationship managers, and other product and channel teams to deliver integrated financial solutions. The Specialist must provide market feedback, assess product and reputation risks, and apply global best practices to ensure suitability and compliance. A deep understanding of regional FX markets, competitive dynamics, and SME customer needs is crucial. The role also involves coaching relationship managers to enhance their FX business generation skills and conducting frequent client meetings to maximize transaction volumes. Arabic fluency is mandatory, reflecting the need for effective communication with clients across the UAE and the broader MENAT region.

Key responsibilities
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with SME clients to position Emirates NBD as their primary FX partner.
- Increase FX revenue by activating new-to-FX clients and expanding wallet share through cross-selling additional products.
- Provide ongoing feedback to the Head of Cross Sell on market trends, competitor activities, and client needs to inform business strategy.
- Assess product risk, reputation risk, and suitability in line with global best practices and regulatory standards.
- Conduct client meetings and calls to identify transaction banking opportunities and generate new FX business.
- Coach and mentor Business Banking Relationship Managers to enhance their understanding of FX products and improve client engagement.
- Collaborate with retail and corporate banking teams to identify cross-sell opportunities and execute joint client initiatives.
- Ensure consistent follow-up with clients to maintain high levels of satisfaction and drive recurring FX transactions.
- Monitor and report on FX product performance, client activity, and sales metrics to support business development planning.
- Work with product and channel partners to streamline processes, enhance service delivery, and optimize the client experience.
Experience & skills
- Minimum 5–7 years of relevant experience in FX sales, treasury, or business banking within the UAE or GCC region.
- MBA in Finance or a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related discipline required.
- In-depth understanding of FX products, delivery channels, and their application for SME clients.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to develop actionable insights from market data.
- Proven ability to build and sustain long-term client relationships across diverse markets.
- Experience in risk assessment, compliance, and adherence to product suitability frameworks.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with a customer-centric approach.
- Arabic fluency is mandatory; English proficiency required.
- Knowledge of market competition, industry trends, and business banking regulations.
- Ability to collaborate across departments, manage priorities, and deliver under tight deadlines.
