Job description
The Planning Engineer role involves performing comprehensive project planning, scheduling, progress monitoring, reporting, and time management for oil and gas projects including offshore operations. The role is responsible for preparing cost estimates and budgets, generating cost forecasts and reports, and tracking the Value of Work Done (VOWD) to support project financial oversight. The Planning Engineer monitors monthly invoice payments, accruals, and highlights areas of concern for management review. The position requires expert knowledge in planning, scheduling, and cost engineering activities, including schedule preparation and cost estimation at various project phases. Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings and work packs, strong analytical skills, and familiarity with internationally accepted norms are critical. The role involves significant use of project management software, including PRIMAVERA P6, MS Project, Excel, and PowerPoint, to plan, track, and report project progress and financials. The position requires collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and adherence to project timelines, cost targets, and quality standards.

Key responsibilities
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project schedules, including planning, progress tracking, and time management functions
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets, forecasts, and monthly cost reports for management review
- Report monthly Value of Work Done (VOWD) and track invoice payments and accruals, highlighting deviations or concerns
- Interpret engineering drawings and work packs to ensure project planning and execution alignment
- Monitor project milestones and provide progress updates, ensuring timely delivery of project objectives
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project cost and schedule targets are met
- Utilize PRIMAVERA P6, MS Project, Excel, and PowerPoint to manage, monitor, and report project activities
- Identify project risks related to schedule, cost, and resource allocation and recommend corrective actions
Experience & skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Discipline
- Minimum 10 years of experience in cost engineering and project management within Oil & Gas and offshore projects
- Expert knowledge in project planning, scheduling, and cost engineering activities
- Proficiency in PRIMAVERA P6 and MS Project, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret engineering drawings and work packs
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams
- Knowledge of internationally accepted engineering and project management norms
