Job description
Petrofac is a leading international service provider to the energy industry, helping clients meet evolving energy needs. This role of Principal Engineer ā HSE Design (Environmental) is an opportunity to lead high-impact environmental engineering deliverables for major oil & gas and industrial projects. It requires deep expertise in environmental studies, regulatory compliance, stakeholder coordination, and advanced modeling tools. The position supports hybrid work arrangements, with a minimum of three days per week required on-site.

Key responsibilities
- Responsible for producing deliverables such as Environment Design Basis/Philosophy, Equipment Noise/Noise Control Philosophy, Emission and Effluent Summary Reports, Atmospheric Pollutant Dispersion Reports, Flare Radiation and Dispersion Reports, Vent Dispersion and Noise Assessment Study and Waste Management Plan
- Organize and participate in workshops such as HAZID and ENVID
- Perform dispersion studies and provide inputs pertaining to Stack and Vent Heights, Flare Height and Sterile Radius and Acoustic Insulation for Noise Control
- Review of Company ITT documents and provide Environment Engineering related inputs for EPC Proposals
- Coordinate with other discipline and work centre Engineers and ensure that the Company/Project Environment requirements/study recommendations are implemented in the project design
- Prepare/review inquiry requisitions, technical bid evaluations and purchase requisitions for specialist studies such as ESIA, Greenhouse Gas Assessment, LDAR and BAT Studies
- Coordinate with client, regulatory authorities, consultants, 3rd party certifying agencies, consortium partners, subcontractors, other discipline engineers and Project team
- Monitor the schedule and ensure the environmental design activities complete within the allotted manhours and schedule
- Support the construction and commissioning field queries with justification note and calculations
- Review and approve vendor drawings/documents and Noise Datasheets
- Participate in cross-functional and inter-office meetings to provide design inputs to Engineering team
- Proactively identify and mitigate technical risks during project stage
- Review and guide vendors especially on noise, emission, BAT requirements
Experience & skills
- Bachelor/Masterās Degree in Engineering with 15+ years of experience as Environment Engineer for an EPC or a Environmental Consultancy company
- Experience in preparation of Environment Design Basis/Philosophy for Projects, Preparation/Review of Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) Reports, Atmospheric pollutant dispersion reports, Noise Study and Flare Radiation and Dispersion Reports, Emission/Effluent Summary Reports and Greenhouse Gas Assessment and BAT Reports
- Hands-on experience with Flaresim, AERMOD/ADMS, SoundPlan and PHAST
- Familiarity with 3D Model Software such as NavisWorks
- Conversant with ISO 14001 Standard requirements
- Good knowledge of international Environment standards (IFC/ World Bank/ USEPA/ BREF documents)
- Strong time management skills including ability to meet deadlines and manage priorities
- Effective technical report writing skills in English
