Job description
The Head of English will play a pivotal leadership role within the secondary school at GEMS Winchester, Fujairah. This position requires both academic expertise and the ability to lead a team of teachers to achieve excellence in English education. The individual will be responsible for shaping the curriculum from Key Stage 3 through Key Stage 5, implementing effective teaching practices, and enhancing student outcomes across all levels. The role also contributes to the school's wider strategic objectives through collaboration with the senior leadership team. This is a full-time, on-site role starting August 2025, suitable for someone committed to British Curriculum standards, innovation in pedagogy, and inclusive education.

Experience & skills
- bachelorās or masterās degree in English or a related field
- qualified teacher status (QTS) or equivalent
- minimum 5ā7 years of English teaching experience
- at least 2 years in a leadership or departmental coordinator role
- experience with British curriculum including IGCSE and A Level
- proficiency in curriculum design and instructional planning
- understanding of data analysis for academic performance tracking
- experience in teacher evaluation and coaching
- familiarity with school inspection frameworks like Ofsted or BSO
- strong organizational and project management skills
- excellent written and verbal English communication
- ability to lead department-level strategic initiatives
