Job description
This Senior Manager - Investment AI Platform role sits inside Inception42's (in)Alpha product team as the resident investment practitioner, working closely with product, engineering, AI, growth, and client investment teams. It runs as a permanent, full-time individual contributor position with significant influence over the platform and no direct reports at hire, though priorities shift constantly in this kind of product environment. You translate how investment professionals screen opportunities, run diligence, prepare committee materials, and monitor portfolios into product requirements and clear standards for analytical quality. Private equity, private credit, venture, sovereign wealth, and other institutional investors all encounter this role as a credible peer, not just a product contact. Reference artefacts get authored and maintained, including model investment committee memos, diligence question sets, decision criteria, scoring frameworks, and peer benchmarking conventions. AI generated memos, summaries, comparables, extracted metrics, and monitoring insights get reviewed for analytical soundness, appropriate treatment of uncertainty, and correct use of source evidence. Plausible but incorrect outputs, such as misread covenants, misstated valuation logic, or false peer matches, get identified and driven to resolution with clear ownership. Design partner relationships get run end to end, eliciting workflow detail down to individual artefacts and converting that evidence into prioritized product input. A practitioner's view of the competitive environment and GCC market requirements gets maintained throughout, including regional deal structures and reporting conventions.
Required skills
Key responsibilities
- Define how (in)Alpha modules should behave against real investment practice, including screening, diligence, data room handling, and portfolio monitoring
- Author and maintain reference artefacts including model investment committee memos, diligence question sets, decision criteria, and scoring frameworks
- Work through backlog refinement with product and engineering, resolving practitioner-level questions on scope and edge cases
- Pressure-test proposed features against fund governance, regulated processes, and committee dynamics to identify where a workflow will fail
- Review AI-generated memos, summaries, comparables, and monitoring insights for analytical soundness and correct use of source evidence
- Set the quality bar for each analytical output and translate investment judgment into evaluation criteria with the AI team
- Identify plausible but incorrect outputs and drive each issue to resolution with clear ownership
- Establish standards for citation, traceability, and source transparency so analysts can defend platform-generated figures
- Lead the investment-domain contribution to product demonstrations, discovery sessions, and executive conversations with funds and institutions
- Run design-partner relationships end to end, eliciting workflow detail and converting evidence into prioritized product input
- Support deployments by advising client teams on configuring templates, taxonomies, and decision criteria within the platform
- Contribute domain substance to proposals, RFP responses, and thought-leadership material for commercial teams
- Maintain a practitioner's view of the competitive environment and GCC market requirements, including regional deal structures
- Bring structured client evidence into roadmap and pricing discussions to reduce avoidable output defects and product rework
Experience & skills
- Bring substantial experience, typically 6+ years, in private equity, private credit, growth equity, or an institutional or sovereign investment environment
- Show demonstrable experience preparing and defending investment committee materials, including memo authorship and LBO analysis
- Carry a working command of core investment process artefacts including data rooms, diligence trackers, and peer benchmarking
- Demonstrate strong investment judgment and analytical scepticism, distinguishing decision-relevant evidence from interesting detail
- Explain investment reasoning precisely to engineers, AI practitioners, designers, and client executives without diluting its meaning
- Shape decisions through evidence and persuasion in cross-functional or committee settings without relying on formal authority
- Operate comfortably in an early-stage product environment where processes are still being defined
- Hold a bachelor's degree in finance, economics, engineering, or a comparable discipline, or equivalent practical experience
- Add experience at a general partner, sovereign wealth fund, or regional institutional investor, considered a plus
- Pursue a CFA or CAIA charter, or show active progress toward one, considered a plus
- Use AI-assisted research, diligence, or document analysis tools, whether hands-on or through formal evaluation
