Job description
The Senior Category Manager is responsible for growing the Grocery Store 'tMart', a cloud store concept offering 30-minute delivery of groceries at hypermarket prices across Kuwait, UAE, Qatar, Jordan, Bahrain, Egypt, Oman, and Iraq. The role focuses on developing and leading pricing strategy initiatives aligned with country-level objectives, identifying target competitors, conducting retail audits, setting pricing matrix frameworks, testing and analyzing results, and managing assortment guidelines including breadth and depth. Responsibilities include leading SKU limit and brand limit decisions by category roles, developing reports to assess category performance including low-performing items, GMROI, potential categories for assortment increase or decrease, cohort analysis, and CSAT scores. The position requires maintaining pricing strategies, resolving margin erosion issues, protecting price perception, identifying brands available in target competitors that fit tMart's concept, and performing category rationalization exercises to identify items for closure or expansion. The role also involves defining category roles and item roles considering market dynamics and consumer behavior, managing price scraping providers for data accuracy, evaluating compliance with pricing strategy using pricing tools and guidelines, implementing promotional trade plans, identifying regional events, coordinating with marketing teams on campaigns, assessing campaign performance and ROI, setting targets for promotional contribution, developing new marketing tools for customer acquisition and retention, leading supplier business reviews, negotiating commercial agreements to enhance profitability, and working closely with regional commercial teams to drive affordability, profitability, and differentiated assortment. The position operates within talabat, part of Delivery Hero Group, a global local delivery platform operating in over 70 countries and listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, requiring experience managing multiple product categories within FMCG retail environments, leading cross-functional initiatives, working with analytics tools, and handling international market dynamics.

Key responsibilities
- Lead development and execution of pricing strategy aligned with country objectives including competitor identification, retail audits, pricing matrix setup, testing, and performance analysis
- Define assortment guidelines including breadth and depth, manage SKU limits and brand limits by category roles, and align assortment strategies with category objectives
- Develop category performance reports covering low performing items, GMROI, potential assortment changes, cohort analysis, and CSAT scores
- Maintain pricing strategies, resolve margin erosion issues, and protect price perception across categories

Experience & skills
- Minimum 5+ years of experience managing multiple product categories within FMCG retail or large retailers in an international environment
- Experience building teams and leading cross-functional projects at scale
- Strong analytical capabilities and hands-on experience using analytical tools
- Ability to manage stakeholders and interact with senior-level executives
- Experience working with category performance metrics including GMROI, pricing strategy, and assortment planning
- Fluency in English and Arabic
- Experience managing pricing strategies, promotional planning, supplier negotiations, and category rationalization
- Experience working in fast-paced operational environments including warehouse, delivery, and customer-facing operations when required
