Snr Engineer Mechanical Maintenance role in Assets Management– OLEFIN CRACKER PLANT – Mechanical (OQ RPI) located in Oman - Suhar, reporting to TL Maintenance Mechanical OLEFIN CRACKER PLANT with 0 direct reports, responsible for providing strong engineering support to the team and coordinating maintenance mechanical works across OLEFIN CRACKER PLANT – RPI assets under TL Maintenance Mechanical OLEFIN CRACKER PLANT, acting as technical service provider for maintenance and execution of minor projects and modifications in accordance with technical standards set by TSD to maintain assets. The role executes maintenance mechanic (static & rotating) services on planned and un-planned maintenance works utilizing best practice; coordinates and supervises assets, products, and maintenance work in the designated area; implements plans and executes maintenance works; and guides younger engineers in Mechanical Maintenance matters to ensure assets and equipment are always available, minimize downtime, meet operational targets supporting gross margin/profitability, ensure sufficient organizational capability for business continuity, and identify and develop talent people as feeder for OQ talent pipeline. Work is performed in accordance with Group Mission, Vision, Values & Strategies, and policies, guidelines, and standards, supported by IT Technology platform, HSE standards, Omani government and other legal justifications, and best international practices in consonance with national objectives. Domain scope includes Olefin Cracker Plant / Steam Cracker using steam cracking furnaces to produce lighter alkenes (olefins) including ethene (ethylene) and propene (propylene); olefin process breaks down larger hydrocarbon molecules into smaller olefin molecules (ethylene, propylene) using a high-temperature reactor and a catalyst dependent on feedstock, typically heavier hydrocarbons such as naphtha or gas oil, heated to high temperatures and cracked into smaller olefin molecules, followed by steps such as separation and purification; end products used as feedstocks for production of plastics, rubber, and synthetic fibers. Mechanical equipment scope (rotating/static) includes distillation column, heat exchanger, reactor vessel, compressors, pump, fractionator, storage tanks, filters, valves, steam generators, cooling towers, and the role covers maintenance and upkeep of OLEFIN CRACKER PLANT mechanical rotating and static equipment to ensure reliability and availability, executing planned/unplanned/shutdowns/turnarounds for static equipment (tanks, vessels, fin fan cooler, heat exchangers, valves, piping, painting, insulation, scaffolding) and rotating equipment (gas turbine, centrifugal pumps, centrifugal/screw compressor, reciprocating pumps, fin fan coolers). The role develops SMP (Standard Maintenance procedures) considering RCM study, vendor manuals, international best maintenance practices, and codes/standards/guidelines issued by TSD; ensures special tools, materials, and skilled workforce availability; attends internal meetings with Project, Operation, HSE, TSD, Planning and other departments for issue resolution and prioritization; provides inputs to maintenance contracts and administration including technical evaluation on RFQ; performs technical evaluation of new tenders and participates in kick-off meetings for CM, PM, TA; ensures planned maintenance work orders are communicated and executed as per plan; updates equipment maintenance history and reports in SAP (CMMS) including SAP- PM; identifies spares requirements and maintains warehouse stock; ensures approved maintenance sequences, prioritization, and availability of spare parts/tools/drawings/workforce; develops back-up plans for on-call and emergency maintenance during silence hours/off duty; develops and implements solutions to detect, understand, mitigate failures; ensures effective execution and completion of planned maintenance services in accordance with best practice and within period; identifies critical issues and repetitive failures and performs Root Cause Analysis (RCA) ensuring recommendations implemented and backlogs planned/executed; develops/reviews/updates maintenance progress reports and contractor performance; studies and evaluates plant modification/improvement proposals for workability at implementation; conducts HAZOP studies for new modifications; conducts risk assessment and obtains expert advice ensuring implementation of results; and manages vendor interactions via regular meetings with third party suppliers including licensors, vendors, affiliated companies, following up on deliverables and maintaining close communication. Key interactions include internal Maintenance Managers & Engineers, Planners, Operations, Procurement, Logistic & HSE, and external Contractors, Vendors & Suppliers. Working conditions include field operations and office environment with moderate to intensive computer screen use. Education requires bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or similar, language requires exceptional written/read/spoken English (required) with Arabic native desirable, and experience requires 6-8 years with knowledge of industrial standards ASME, API, ASTM; design and troubleshooting of static equipment; project planning, cost control, contract development, installation, troubleshooting, start-up; engineering field materials specifications and international standards; Process Equipment Life-Cycle Management; operating and maintaining equipment reliability; Quality Assurance, Quality Control and HSE plans; data integrity techniques with integration of information/reports; understanding of Process (P&IDs / PFDs), engineering drawings and OEM manuals; computer literacy including MS Office and ERP solutions; estimating, budgeting and cost control; static oil & gas equipment (pressure vessels, furnaces, heat exchangers) and rotating equipment (pumps, compressors, turbines).
